REVIEW: Extreme Rules 2016: Extreme Rematches

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Extreme Rules 2016 Date: May 22, 2016 Location: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey Commentators: Byron Saxton, John Bradshaw Layfield, Michael Cole It’s a night of rematches but in this case we have a few bonus stipulations to carry things forward. The main event is another match between WWE World Champion Roman Reigns and AJ Styles, in this case under Extreme Rules. The question here is who interferes and helps either guy pull off the win. Let’s get to it. On the pre-show, here are the Dudley Boyz with someth..

REVIEW: Great American Bash 2004: A Real Burial

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Great American Bash 2004 Date: June 27, 2004 Location: Norfolk Scope, Norfolk, Virginia Attendance: 6,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz We had to get here at some point and that’s not the most appealing thing in the world. The double main event will see JBL challenging Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Title in a Texas Bullrope match (totally different than the Montana bullrope match) and the Undertaker vs. the Dudley Boyz in a Concrete Crypt match (totally different than the good idea match). Let’s get to it. The op..

Top of the list. Tag team wrestling is one of the more beloved concepts in wrestling as it gives you double the wrestlers than you would see in most matches. There have been all kinds of tag teams over the history of WWE and some of them have stood out above the others. You can probably name quite a list of your own, and that is exactly what WWE has done as well. Hart Foundation 2. Hardy Boyz 1. New Day The final group was announced during the fifth episode of WWE’s Top 50 Tag Teams special airing on Peacock over the course of the month. WWE News: Finn Balor Wants To Form A Dream Team

Holy dream team! Tag team wrestling has rarely been WWE’s strong suit. Yes they had a great run back in the 1980s, but other than that and the period of Edge and Christian, the Hardys and the Dudley Boyz, there have not exactly been a lot of great times for WWE’s tag team divisions. They have a tendency to group big names together as bigger tag teams, which one wrestler is teasing doing again. While it has died down a bit in recent years, there was a time when the Bullet Club was the hottest group in professional wrestling. The team went from a group of wrestlers in New Japan Professional Wrestling to one of the biggest things around, to the point where they had quite a bit to do with the rise of AEW. Over the years, the stable has had quite a few members, but now two of them may be up for a WWE reunion. Finn Balor was recently interviewed by CBS Sports where he mentioned a potential tag team with AJ Styles. Balor spoke about his respect for AJ Styles but said that their scheduled ha..

Video: Top Ten One Time Only Tag Team Partners

For one night only. Tag team wrestling has always been a rough patch for WWE. There are periods where things will be great (late 1980s, the Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and Christian) but other than that, there are very few long term instances of great tag team wrestling. A lot of the time WWE will go with two people being thrown into a team and hoping for the best. Sometimes they’re just a one off team, to the point where WWE is looking back at the idea. Teddy Long is smiling somewhere. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a new Top Ten video looking at the ten best one off tag teams in company history. The video is almost exactly what it sounds like, looking at pairings that only teamed together once for some random occasion. The idea seems to be much more of a recent concept, as all but one of the entries coming from 2001-present, with a sole outlier from 1992. Opinion: This wasn’t one of their better lists as for the most part, there is a reason th..

The Dudley Boyz Put A Producer Through A Table For Interrupting Their Hall Of Fame Induction Speech

One last time for the road. To open the 2018 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony, the first inductees to accept their place amongst the greats in WWE's history were D-Von and Bubba Ray Dudley. In what was an entertaining induction which kick-started with Edge & Christian doing the honors; transitioned to The Dudleyz bringing The Hardy Boyz on stage to take a bow along with Edge & Christian and themselves. Also, both Bubba Ray and D-Von payed homage to their ECW brethren for going to war with them as they made their names in the pro wrestling industry. As they were wrapping up their speech, The Dudley Boyz theme music hit a little earlier than expected. A WWE producer then came out and told the 9-time WWE Tag Team Champions that they had to wrap it up. That would turn out to be a bad decision for the producer as he soon ended up going through a table by way of The Dudley Boyz. This producer obviously never heard the third commandment... THOU SHALT NOT MESS WITH THE DUDLEYS! #WWEHOF @bull..

Who Will Induct the Dudley Boyz Into the Hall of Fame?

This totally reeks of awesomeness. Earlier this year, the Dudley Boyz were announced as part of the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class. The induction itself is long overdue but it also brought up the question of who would be inducting them. That question was answered today with a surprise announcement. The team deserves this. [This post contains video, click to play] On today’s episode of “Busted Open Radio”, host Bubba Ray Dudley offered the honor of inducting he and D-Von Dudley to Edge and Christian. During the show, Edge called in and accepted the honor. The two teams feuded for several years in WWE with each winning the World Tag Team Titles from the other. Matt Hardy on if He Believes the Young Bucks Will Come to WWE

‘Raw‘ Superstar Matt Hardy was interviewed by Sportskeeda where he spoke about The Young Bucks possibly coming to WWE, The Dudley Boyz going into the Hall of Fame and his opinions on The Bar. The ‘Woken’ being first talked about The Young Bucks and if he could envision them coming to WWE. “That’s an interesting question. Personally, I’m a fan of the Bucks of Youth both as performers and as people. I think they’re doing pretty well right now and I can see them staying in that same division. But I certainly think that they could end up in WWE if they decided to make that decision. “It’ll be interesting because being in WWE there’s a very stringent system and a certain protocol. For me, it’ll be very interesting to see how the Bucks of Youth will be able to survive and if they can thrive in that stringent protocol.” Next, he commented on old rivals in The Dudley Boyz entering the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018. “I think the Dudley Boyz going into the Hall of Fame is a great decision. ..
