AEW Revolution 2023 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s Revolution and things are not exactly feeling hot coming into the show. The main event is a sixty minute Iron Man match with Bryan Danielson challenging MJF for the World Title, which means there won’t be as much time for the usual deep card this time. Other than that, we have Hangman Page vs. Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match and Christian Cage vs. Jungle Boy in what seems to be a Buried Alive match. Let’s get to it. Zero Hour: Mark Briscoe/Lucha Bros vs. Ari Daivari/Varsity Athletes The Mark Briscoe vs. Mark Sterling and company feud continues for reasons I don’t think I follow. Briscoe also has some new friends in the Lucha Bros and that means we could be in for a new trio. The division could certainly use them, but for now they have to get rid of something like this, as AEW is giving them a nice spot to get their feet wet as a three man team. Of course I’ll take Briscoe and the Bros here, as there is no reason to suggest that Daivari and company will ever be winning anything..

Triple Threat: Three Superstars Make Surprise Returns On AEW Dynamite

They’re back. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler to be gone from a show and it can make for quite a moment when they make their return. You might see a wrestler’s return advertised or it might come as a surprise, but what matters is how they come back for a big event. That was the situation this week, with three wrestlers making their returns on the same show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: Reigning Champion Officially Signs With AEW Three returns took place on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. First, the Lucha Bros returned to help Mark Briscoe deal with Tony Nese and Ari Daivari. The team had been off television due to visa issues. Later, Christian Cage returned and reignited his feud with Jungle Boy, laying him out with the Killswitch. Cage had been out of action since September with an arm injury. It was a special night. AEW Rampage Results – November 11, 2022

Rampage Date: November 11, 2022 Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Well there’s no Mike Tyson this week so we’re already on a downgrade. The Full Gear Tournament continues this week and that means we’ll be getting to see what they have planned for the next round. Other than that, Jungle Boy is here for a challenge to Luchasaurus, which he announced on Dynamite instead of just making the challenge there for whatever reason. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here are Christian Cage and Luchasaurus to answer Jungle Boy’s challenge, which he wants to give in person. Cue Jungle Boy, who Christian thinks must be from Boston because he’s such a loser. Christian talks about how the two of them have beaten Jungle Boy multiple times and Jungle Boy says they have cost him everything. He is tired of the interference so at Full Gear, he’ll fight Luchasaurus inside a steel cage. Christian says but Jungle Boy better be glad that he ha..

AEW Dynamite Results – October 12, 2022

Dynamite Date: October 12, 2022 Location: Coca-Cola Coliseum, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone We’re up north this week and out of the United States (at least on land) for the first time. The main events feature a grand total of one American as we have Bryan Danielson challenging Chris Jericho for the Ring Of Honor World Title and Pac defending the All-Atlantic Title against Orange Cassidy. Let’s get to it. We start hings off with the debut of the newest member of the broadcast team: Renee Paquette (Young). She brings out Christian Cage, who insults Toronto and then brings in Luchasaurus. Jungle Boy vs. Luchasaurus Christian Cage is on commentary. Jungle Boy goes after him to start but gets powered into the corner. The uppercut off the top sends Luchasaurus to the floor and it’s already time for a table. Jungle Boy is in big trouble as the table is set up outside and we take a break. Back with Luchasaurus missing a charge and going into the post,..

Another Former NXT Star Signs With AEW/Ring Of Honor

Welcome to your new home. WWE has long since dominated the wrestling world but things have been changing a bit in recent years. The rise of AEW has shaken up the industry just a little bit, and while WWE is still the undisputed top company, AEW has offered wrestlers a new place to go that they might not have had before. It seems that is the case again with a former WWE wrestler. According to Fightful Select, former NXT star Blake Christian has signed with either AEW or Ring Of Honor. Christian, who previously wrestled in NXT under the name Trey Baxter, appeared at Ring Of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor event in July. He has also wrestled in a variety of other promotions, including GCW, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling. There is no word on when he will wrestle for either promotion next. Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as Christian is someone who has done some good things everywhere he has gone. It makes sense for AEW or Ring Of Honor to see what he can do under the..

Surprise Return And Reunion Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. There are a lot of ways to set up a feud between wrestlers and one of the best can be to have someone betray their friend. It sets up a personal rivalry that people can understand and works well most of the time. The initial betrayal can set up a big moment down the line, and that big moment took place this week, with another moment following. Back in June, Christian Cage turned on Jungle Boy and laid him out before siding with Luchasaurus a week later. This week on Dynamite, Cage and Luchasaurus won a tag match, with Jungle Boy returning after the match. Luchasaurus sided with Jungle Boy, who chased Cage out of the arena with a chair. There is currently no word on a match between Cage and Jungle Boy in the future. o Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can set up more than a few interesting possible matches. I could go for Cage vs. Jungle Boy or Cage finding someone to set up a tag match. Either of them could go somewhere good and now the question is about finding o..

Change Of Pace: Surprise Heel Turn Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

It’s a new direction. There are several different ways to present any given wrestler in the world and sometimes they need to do something new. You can only have a wrestler do things the same way for so long before a change is needed and that can make things all the more interesting. One of those changes might have taken place this week in a bit of a surprise. Two weeks ago on AEW Dynamite, Christian Cage turned on Jurassic Express and cost them the Tag Team Titles in the process. Last week, Cage explained himself but was attacked by Luchasaurus, who he then talked down and left with, seemingly on good terms. This week, Cage introduced Luchasaurus, who came to the ring in new gear and defeated Serpentico, only to attack him again after the match. This seems to mark Luchasaurus’ first heel turn in the company, having been around since AEW’s inception. Opinion: This is an interesting move on paper, but now we get to see what happens when Jungle Boy gets back. For now, the idea of Cage p..

Believe It Or Not: Another Popular AEW Star Injured

Yes, again. Injuries can stop a wrestling promotion’s momentum cold and there isn’t much that can be done about them. A wrestler can be taken out of action out of nowhere and plans have to be changed on the fly. Unfortunately these things can happen in bunches and that seems to be the case again, as another prominent star has been taken out of action due to an injury. According to F4WOnline.com, AEW’s Jungle Boy is out of action with an undisclosed injury and he will be missing some time. There is no word on when he was hurt or when he will be back in the ring. This comes after Christian Cage attacked Jungle Boy to end the June 15 edition of AEW Dynamite and is the latest in a long string of injuries to nearly ten AEW stars. Opinion: I can’t remember the last time that I saw a promotion as snake bit by injuries as AEW right now. It feels like the company can’t go three days without someone else getting hurt and that is going to catch up with them sooner rather than later. At some poi..

Double History: Title Change And Betrayal Take Place On AEW Dynamite

Double history has been made. AEW has only been around for a little over three years now and that time has seen the company build up its own history. The company has a series of championships and stars in its time and that means they are able to put together some very good things. That was the case again this week as history was made in more ways than just one. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Young Bucks regain the AEW Tag Team Titles from Jurassic Express in a ladder match. This makes the Bucks the first ever two time champions in the company’s history. Following the loss, Christian Cage, who had been serving as a mentor to Jurassic Express, turned on the team by attacking Jungle Boy. The match was originally scheduled to include the Hardys but they were removed following Jeff Hardy’s DUI arrest earlier this week. Opinion: I’m not entirely stunned by the Bucks getting the titles back, as they are the most famous team AEW has ever had. That should open up some poss..

World Champion Confirms Torn Bicep, To Undergo Surgery

Ouch. There are all kinds of ways that wrestlers can get hurt and some of them can be rather devastating. Some of them can leave a wrestler on the sidelines for a long time, which can cause all kinds of other issues. A serious injury that leaves a wrestler hurt for a long time can mean some decisions have to be made about the future, which might be the case again. Over the weekend, NWA World Champion Matt Cardona posted a tweet saying that he thought he tore his bicep during a match against Blake Christian at a GCW event. Cardona has confirmed that he has since undergone an MRI and confirmed that his bicep has been torn and will require surgery. As a result, Cardona will be forced to miss some dates, though it is not known how long he will be out of action. It is also not known what will happen to the championships he currently holds. Got a MRI today. Bicep is torn. Surgery needed. Will unfortunately need to cancel some dates. — Matt Cardona (@TheMattCardona) May 31, 2022 Opinion: ..

Two Names Removed From AEW Dynamite Match For Unknown Reasons

Not so fast. AEW has done quite a few things well in its just over three years of existence. One of their best things has been its pay per view events. The events are the most important for AEW as the company gets to showcase their biggest stars and matches. Those shows have to be followed up though, and now one of the followups will be a bit different than advertised. Following this weekend’s Double Or Nothing event, AEW announced that a ten man tag team match would take place this week on Dynamite. The match would see the Undisputed Elite face Jurassic Express/Christian Cage/Hardys. However, AEW has since updated the announcement and turned it into an eight man tag, with Jeff Hardy and Adam Cole removed from the match. There is no word on why the changes were made. See the fallout from #AEWDoN as a huge 8-man tag match is set for #AEWDynamite THIS WEDNESDAY at 8/7c LIVE on TBS, as #AEW World Tag Team Champs @boy_myth_legend/@luchasaurus team w/ @Christian4Peeps/@MATTHARDYBRAND to f..

Top Independent Star Suffers Possible Torn Bicep, Finishes Match Anyway

Ouch. There are all kinds of ways for a wrestler to be put on the shelf with an injury. It might be something that has built up over time and has to be corrected but there are also times when an injury pops up out of nowhere. Both are equally bad, but the latter can stop someone’s push cold. Unfortunately that seems to be the case again, as a top independent star may have been injured. NWA World Champion Matt Cardona revealed that he was injured during a match at GCW’s Downward Spiral event. The injury took place during a match against Black Christian though it is not clear when it happened during the match. Cardona tweeted that he thought he tore his bicep and was forced to miss his own after party as he flew to Orlando to get his arm looked at. There is no word on how long Cardona could be out, though he is scheduled to defend the NWA World Title against Nick Aldis on June 11. I think I tore my bicep and I still finished the match and beat you!!! https://t.co/PWzrCryEV6 — Matt Car..

Remember Them: WWE Attitude Era Stable Reunites At Independent Show

There’s a flashback. Stables are something that have done a lot of good for wrestling over the years. Putting a group of wrestlers together under a common banner is something that has worked for a long time and it continues to do so to this day. There have been some very interesting ones over the years but now one of the lesser remembered ones has made a brief comeback. The New Brood had a reunion in a tag match at a Big Time Wrestling event on Saturday night in Prince George, Virginia. The match saw the Hardys faced Gangrel and Joey Janela, who billed themselves as the New New Brood. Gangrel and the Hardys teamed together in 1999 in the WWF against Edge and Christian, the former members of Gangrel’s Brood. Following the match, Gangrel and the Hardys posed together as part of the reunion. The New Brood has REUNITED. pic.twitter.com/5vH1ZGURN4 — MATT HARDY (@MATTHARDYBRAND) May 15, 2022 Opinion: This is one of those things that came out of nowhere and was good for a nice smile, as t..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – April 6, 2022

Dynamite Date: April 6, 2022 Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur It’s pretty rare to have a lot of things going on when a company hasn’t had a major show, but that is the case this week. Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event was basically AEW’s Wrestlemania weekend show and included the debut of Samoa Joe. He’ll be here tonight, and that means things could get a lot more interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage They stare at each other for a bit until Christian grabs a headlock to grind away a bit. Cole breaks that up and sends him into the corner to take over. Christian knocks him outside though and it’s a baseball slide out to the floor. That means some chops up against the barricade but Christian’s foot gets caught in the ropes, allowing Cole to take over again. A hard whip into the corner rocks Christian and we take a break. Back with Christian knocking him to the floor again and..

REVIEW: Vengeance 2005: Lock Them Up

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Vengeance 2005 Date: June 26, 2005 Location: Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada Attendance: 9,850 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Jonathan Coachman I’m actually looking forward to this one as the card is stacked. We have HHH vs. Batista inside the Cell, John Cena facing Christian and Chris Jericho in a triple threat in his first defense as Raw World Champion and Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels II. The rest of the show might not be great but those three matches should be more than enough. Let’s get to it. ..

WATCH: 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble Match

You think you know me. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble match from the premium live event of the same name. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Intent on settling score with The Viper, Edge walloped Orton with a steel chair during the match’s chaotic opening minutes. The attack left Orton limping and seemingly unable to continue, as referees assisted him to the locker room, where he was tended to by WWE’s medical team. With The Apex Predator thought to be out of the picture, the carnage continued inside the ring. Surprise entrants included former NXT North American Champion Damian Priest and the most dominant competitor in Royal Rumble Match history, Kane. Perhaps the biggest shocker of all was the arrival of former World Heavyweight Champion Christian at No. 24. Competing in his first true match since 2014, Christian was greeted with a hug by Edge..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – December 29, 2021

Dynamite Date: December 29, 2021 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We’ll wrap up another year of Dynamite with this one, in the place that hosted the show for what felt like the better part of ever. Cody Rhodes it the new TNT Champion, which hopefully is not just for the Go Big Show or Rhodes To The Top. Other than that, we also have the welcome return of Jim Ross, who has announced that he is cancer free. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jim Ross gets a big entrance for his return, which is a great thing to see. Jurassic Express/Christian Cage/Lucha Bros vs. FTR/Matt Hardy/Private Party Wheeler takes Christian into the corner for a clean break so we hit the double bicep pose. Christian works on the arm for a bit so it’s off to Harwood to trade chops with Jungle Boy in the corner. Harwood gets caught in the wrong corner and it’s Christian coming in for a kick to the face. The jump over the top into the uppercut has Ha..

AEW Rampage Results – December 25, 2021

Rampage Date: December 25, 2021 Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Ricky Starks It’s a Christmas special and this week will be headlined by a pretty big title match. The show’s main event will feature TNT Champion Sammy Guevara defending against Cody Rhodes, who is looking to become the first three time TNT Champion. Other than that, Hook has his second televised match, which should be interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jungle Boy vs. Isaiah Kassidy Luchasaurus, Christian Cage, Marq Quen and Matt Hardy are all here too. Jungle shoulders him down to start but Kassidy sends him into the corner for some kicks to the face. Back up and Jungle starts sliding around, only to get caught with a springboard Stunner to send him outside. The big running corkscrew dive takes Jungle down again and it’s a slingshot hilo for one back inside. Hardy sneaks in a right hand from the floor, allowing Kassidy to hit a basement dr..

AEW Confirms Two More Big Matches For Full Gear

Keep piling them on. We are just over a week away from AEW’s next pay per view offering with Full Gear, meaning the company shouldn’t have much left to do to get the show ready. AEW has a rather strong history on pay per view and it is nice to see how well they can do when they get the chance. That will be the case again now as more matches have been added to the show. Two more matches were added to Full Gear during this week’s AEW Rampage. First up, Eddie Kingston and CM Punk had a face to face confrontation, with both insulting the other. Kingston eventually challenged Punk to a match, with Punk accepting to set up the match. Later, Christian Cage and Jurassic Express challenged the Superkliq to a falls count anywhere match at Full Gear. The match was confirmed later in the night. Full Gear is set for November 13 in Minneapolis. It was a pretty big showdown. Check out how we got to these matches: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play]..

More Details On The AEW/Impact Wrestling Partnership

It was nice while it lasted. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today and some of them are going to get some more attention than others. Two of the biggest promotions going at the moment are WWE and AEW, which are rather different in how they interact with other companies. AEW is much more friendly about working with another promotion, and now we know a bit more about that. Last week, Impact Wrestling presented its annual Bound For Glory event, which featured a main event of AEW’s Christian Cage defending the Impact Wrestling World Title against Josh Alexander in a losing effort. The show was the end of a working relationship between AEW and Impact Wrestling that had been in effect for the better part of a year. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a chance that the two companies could work together again, but Cage will not be returning for a rematch. There is no word on if the Good Brothers will be appearing on AEW programming again in the future..
