ROH Final Battle 2017 Update

Ring Of Honor held television tapings last night in Philadelphia that should carry the promotion through ROH Final Battle 2017 and on through the end of the year. With the tapings came the card for December’s Final Battle, and it’s shaping up to be a pretty decent looking show.

With how things stand right not with the storylines that played out during the television tapings, the ROH Final Battle card should look something like this:

ROH Tag Team Titles
War Machine vs The Addiction.

Marty Scurll vs Jay Lethal.

ROH Television Title
Kenny King vs Punishment Martinez vs Shane Taylor vs Silas Young.

Tommy Dreamer & Bully Ray vs The Briscoes.

ROH World Title
Cody vs Dalton Castle.

As always, the card can change at the drop of a hat, and I am sure that more matches will be added to the show as it gets closer.

Bully Ray “Retirement” Update

I knew this was a scam. After giving the same “oh, my in-ring career is over” promo during every show of last week’s War Of The Worlds tour, it turns out that Bully Ray was working us all along. During last night’s ROH television tapings in Philadelphia, the rest of the story played out.

Bully Ray came down to the ring and said that though his in-ring career was over, he still wanted to stay around and help the next generation of wrestlers. Joe Koff was involved, and then Jay Briscoe showed up. Now, if you remember correctly, Jay was the one that “ended” Bully’s career at Death Before Dishonor with a nasty table shot to his head. Jay attacked Bully, Koff tried to stop him, and Tommy Dreamer and Velvet Sky ended up running down to break things up.

Mark Briscoe, who was legitimately injured during the War Of The Worlds tour, returned, turned on Bully and Dreamer, and took Bully out. He and Jay hit Bully with the 3D and left him laying.

So, with that, we found out that the whole “retirement” deal with Bully Ray was a work. He’s fine and will apparently be teaming up with Tommy Dreamer to face The Briscoes at Final Battle.

On a personal note, I am fine with injury angles. I am fine with “retirement” angles. But, with all of the drama and real concern in the wrestling world over head injuries and the fact that they have shortened careers and lives, this is just in bad taste to me. Some may disagree, and that’s fine, but in 2017, the last thing that needs to be “worked” is a head injury. We’ve seen too many people lose their careers and almost lose their lives, especially in 2017, to head injuries. It’s just not good.
