The tease continues. We are coming up on WrestleMania 39 weekend but there is more going on that weekend than just the two major events. In addition to WrestleMania, NXT presents one of its major events with the annual Stand & Deliver show, a rare moment of taking the show out of the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center. That means they need something big, and now they are teasing something else.

This week on NXT, Grayson Waller hijacked the show’s feed and called himself the new Main Event, Showstopper and Mr. Stand & Deliver. These are all either Shawn Michaels nicknames or close to them, with Waller inviting Michaels to meet him on the Grayson Waller Effect on the March 8 NXT. Waller and Michaels have been having issues in recent weeks, including Michaels suspending Waller for interrupting Michaels’ post-Vengeance Day media call. That’s never good to hear. Wrestlers work very hard to make their matches look as good as possible, which can be rather taxing on their bodies. At some point, the physical issues begin to take their toll and it can slow their careers down. Unfortunately that is not something they can turn off once they retire, and now a wrestling legend is dealing with such troubles.

Via his Instagram, former WWE star Stevie Richards has revealed that he is suffering from unspecified health issues. The photo shows Richards using a walker and wearing what appears to be a medical gown in a medical facility. Richards said that the last four weeks have been difficult but “hopefully the road to recovery starts asap”. He promised to explain what was going on via his YouTube channel and Instagram. PWInsider is reporting that Richards has been deling with back and spine issues. Richards last wrestled in August 2021.

It’s a weird time. Earlier this year, Vince McMahon returned to WWE in a surprise move, ending his retirement from the company after about six months. McMahon returned to oversee a sale of the company, which is expected to take place in the next few months. That is going to be the biggest change WWE has ever seen, and now we know a bit more about what that has meant so far.

According to PWInsider Elite, the backstage atmosphere is said to be one of “walking on eggshells” as people are scared for their jobs if and when the company is sold. The company is expected to be sold in the next few months, though it is still not clear who will be buying it.

That’s a rare reason. With so many different wrestlers on the WWE roster, there is going to be quite the collection of stars from around the world and from different backgrounds. That can make for some interesting situations, some of which are more negative than others. That was the case again this week, as a WWE star was not allowed to be at a show, though the absence was written in.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Adam Pearce received a phone call from Chelsea Green, saying she had been sent to Ottawa, Illinois rather than Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, causing her to miss the show. According to Fightful Select, this was due to Green not being cleared to return to Canada, meaning she was not allowed to appear at the show. Green was spotted in New York City during the show, attending a performance of her husband Matt Cardona’s musical “The Last Match”.

We are on our way to Roadblock and then Stand & Deliver, which means we should be in for some big stuff over the next few weeks. That includes this week, as Bron Breakker defends the NXT Title against Jinder Mahal. Ok so not everything can be the biggest deal in the world. Let’s get to it.
Trick Williams vs. Ilja Dragunov Before the match, Williams says that if pain makes Dragunov feel alive, he’ll be on cloud nine tonight. Williams hits him in the face before the bell so Dragunov starts angry. That means an angry headlock on the mat, with Williams having to bail to the ropes. Back up and Dragunov hits a running knee in the corner for two, followed by another such knee to keep Williams down. Dragunov goes up but gets kicked in the leg, allowing Williams to knock him to the floor. Cue JD McDonagh to watch as we take a break.

That’s a very long time. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to any wrestler as you never want to see someone put on the shelf. Unfortunately, no matter how much talent, experience or training that a wrestler can have, there is always the chance that something is going to go wrong. That was the case a few weeks back and now we know just how bad things are.

Back in January, Nikkita Lyons was attacked in the NXT parking lot. Shortly thereafter, Lyons announced that she had suffered a torn ACL and had undergone surgery to repair the injury. Lyons appeared on this week’s edition of NXT and announced that she will be out of action for eleven to twelve months. WWE has still not announced who attacked Lyons in the parking lot.

That’s new for her. Back in 2018, Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut and instantly became one of the biggest stars in the company. A year after she made her in-ring debut, she was headlining WrestleMania in the first ever all women’s main event. Rousey is back in WWE after a hiatus and now it turns out that the company has something different planned for her at WrestleMania this year.

In recent weeks, Rousey and her friend Shayna Baszler have been working together more often and talking about dominating the company. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan is for Rousey and Baszler to challenge for as well as win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. It is not clear who will be defending the titles at the show, as reigning champions Damage Ctrl will defend the titles next week against Becky Lynch and Lita.

That’s on tap. We are less than forty days away from WrestleMania 39 and that means the card is really starting to come together. If the matches have not yet been announced, you can probably guess a good few of them, as they have been all but flat out said. This is the culmination of several months of build and now we know just how long one of them has been set in stone.

Earlier this week, WWE announced that John Cena will be returning to Monday Night Raw on March 6. United States Champion Austin Theory mentioned Cena’s return this week on Monday Night Raw and was not happy about it. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Cena vs. Theory is set for WrestleMania 39 and that has been the case since July, just after the two had a confrontation during Cena’s most recent Monday Night Raw appearance.

That’s one way to go. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling, some of which can be a lot more serious than others. As a physical sport, you never know when you are going to see someone get hurt in the course of a match. At the same time, there are also injury angles that are used to progress a story. The latter seems to be true in this case, and someone has something to say about it.

There is nothing to indicate that this is anything more than a storyline.

That’s a bad one. WWE is a multi billion dollar wrestling promotion and the most powerful in all of the industry. That is the kind of thing that can lead to a variety of issues, as the company is going to have to deal with a bunch of problems. Several of these involve situations that take place at their events, and now they might be in trouble involving a lot of money.
