One More Down: WWE Appears To Officially Retire Championship

It was nice while it lasted. There have been a lot of titles over the years in Wwe and that is still the case to this day. The company has quite a few championships between its three main brands, some of which have some unique rules behind them. In a rare move though, WWE has gotten rid of one of the championships after it had not been used very often in recent months.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Nikki Cross defeated Dana Brooke to become the new 24/7 Title, only to throw the title away later in the night. Now the WWE Superstars page is saying that the title’s history runs from 2019 – 2022 rather than “present”. While not confirmed, this would suggest that the title has been retired and will not be returning for the time being.

Opinion: I don’t think this is the biggest surprise as the title was literally thrown away (or at least close to it, as Cross missed the trash can) a few days ago. The title has not exactly been active in recent months and it makes sense to just drop the thing already. The 24/7 Title was little more than a joke most of the time, but if it is has run its course, then there is no need to keep it around.

What do you think of the title? Will WWE bring it back? Let us know in the comments below.
