Word has come through that WWE is reportedly planning to hold more house presentation-style events around the same time as AEW pay-per-views, while the company’s expanding Wednesday night programming has also raised questions about the future of EVOLVE.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, WWE’s approaching pay-per-view airing opposite AEW Dynamite is not projected to be an isolated occurrence. Alvarez brought word that WWE plans to hold additional house presentation-type events coinciding with AEW pay-per-views in the future — although the timing, locations and methods of broadcasting them could vary depending on how the upcoming events perform.
WWE’s Worlds Collide pay-per-view was scheduled in the Chicago area around the same time as AEW All Out. Rather than airing live, despite this, Worlds Collide is set to stream on YouTube on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT, putting it opposite AEW programming that evening.
The development comes as WWE is on top of that preparing to move Main Spectacular to Rumble as part of a latest long-term distribution agreement.
Beginning October 14, WWE Top bout will stream exclusively on Rumble every Wednesday at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, placing the weekly show directly opposite AEW Dynamite.
That move has per sources generated questions within both WWE and AEW about what will happen with EVOLVE, which currently streams Wednesdays at 8 PM ET on Tubi.
Based on Fightful, there have been a significant number of inquiries within both companies regarding EVOLVE’s status following the announcement of Main Program’s brand-new Wednesday time slot.
For the time being, on the other hand, EVOLVE does not appear to be straight away disappearing. Adding to the story, alvarez noted that WWE has enough taped EVOLVE material to continue airing the presentation through February 2027.
It remains unclear what WWE ultimately plans to do with EVOLVE once that material runs out, particularly with Main Pay-per-view occupying the same Wednesday night time slot.
Meanwhile, Alvarez’s reporting indicates that WWE could continue experimenting with additional events around AEW’s major shows, with the company’s approach potentially being influenced by how the fast-approaching broadcasts perform.
