NJPW World Tag League 2017 Results (11/19/17); Stardom Wrestler Yoko Bito Announces Retirement
NJPW World Tag League 2017 Results
NJPW World Tag League 2017 continued today with a show in Gunma. Today’s event didn’t air live on NJPW World, but they have uploaded the two tournament matches for everyone to watch. This will be the trend until the next live show on November 30th.
In today’s tournament matches, B Blocked off with The Best Friends defeated GoD to earn their first points of the tourney. I don’t think that the Japanese fans are sure of what to make of this team yet, but I am hoping that they warm up to them. Chuckie T is obviously having a ton of fun, but I think that the fans are too used to seeing Trent team with Rocky Romero and are maybe missing Roppongi Vice. Good match with Best Friends getting the win.
The other B Block match pitted the team of Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano taking on Michael Elgin and Jeff Cobb. Yano and Cobb were obviously separated at birth; they look so much alike, it’s freaky. The fans have already taken to Cobb, and they greatly enjoy his power moves. He and Ishii had some great interactions in this one. Really hard hitting match when Ishii was involved; Yano and his shenanigans were on display, as well. Cobb and Elgin got the win after Elgin nailed Ishii with an Elgin Bomb.
Just like the G1 Climax tournament, the World Tag League is held under a points system, with 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. The winners of the tournament will get a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship at WrestleKingdom 12.
