Kota Ibushi Injured, out indefinitely

New Japan Pro Wrestling & DDT Wrestling held a joint press conference to announce that Kota Ibushi has suffered a cervical disc herniation and will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

He had missed this past weekend’s DDT events and also will be out of the Power Struggle event. Due to the injury sustained, Kota Ibushi and his tag team partner Daisuke Sasaki have vacated the DDT KO-D Tag Team Championship.

Although said to be out for a “long time”, NJPW has said that Ibushi’s contract will be renewed this January. Ibushi has a dual contract with both New Japan as well as DDT Wrestling in Japan. Kota Ibushi is well known for his innovative high- flying in ring style and has been critically lauded as well, participating in multiple memorable matches. Wrestling Observer Newsletter has awarded him the Best Flying Wrestler in the year 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
