Jeff Jarrett Update: More News On Weekend Indie Incident, Does He Plan To Leave Wrestling Behind?
As we reported this weekend, Jeff Jarrett had some major issues at an indie show in Canada over the weekend. More details have come out over what actually happened, and none of them shed a positive light on Jarrett.
On Friday night, Jarrett was scheduled to compete for Real Canadian Wrestling. Promoter Steven Ewaschuk says that Jarrett showed up late to the show and appeared slightly drunk (Jarrett claimed his tardiness was due to a customs issue). Jarrett claimed he had trouble entering the company and he was only allowed in due to him promising that he would return to the airport at 6 am the following morning to clear things up.
Apparently, Jarrett continued to drink back in the locker room, ultimately passing out. He had to be woken up during intermission and then prepared for his match, even though is was rather obviously in no condition to compete. Wrestlers had to stall for time with the audience, with one even announcing that Jarrett was upstairs drinking, while waiting for Jarrett to come out for his match.
As we can see from the video, something was obviously off with Jarrett.
The promoter says he paid Jarrett, expressed his disappointment, and was rather surprised when Jarrett did not show up in Edmonton for his booking with the company on Saturday night.
Jarrett denies passing out and called Ewaschuk an amateur when asked to comment on the incident.
In a piece in The Tennessean today, Jarrett made it clear that he isn’t getting out of professional wrestling, despite his personal issues and being terminated by Impact Wrestling and Anthem yesterday.
“I’ve spent 31 years in the wrestling business. I’m not getting out of the wrestling business.”
Let’s hope that instead of looking to secure his place in pro wrestling, Jeff Jarrett uses this time to deal with his personal problems.
