Emma Injury Update; Backstage Plans For WWE Mae Young Classic Tournament
Backstage Plans For WWE Mae Young Classic Tournament
As we reported earlier this week, WWE announced that the upcoming Mae Young Classic women’s tournament will be taping at Full Sail in July. We already know that Jim Ross will be lending his voice at the announce table, and it’s being reported now that WWE is looking to use female announcers alongside JR.
WWE has no shortage of backstage female interviewers, but the only one that could really (at least to me) be qualified for calling this tournament is Renee Young. She did commentary for NXT for a while, and the fans know her and know she knows and appreciates the product. There have also been talks of using a female WWE Hall Of Famer for commentary as well, someone like Lita or Beth Phoenix.
We also reported earlier this month that WWE hired its first female referee for NXT, and there are talks of using female refs for the WWE Mae Young Classic, as well.
Emma Injury Update
Emma was injured during the European Tour earlier this month, but it looks like she could be back in action soon. She left the tour early to return home to the US to have her shoulder injury evaluated, and it’s being reported now that she could be cleared to return to the ring as soon as mid-June.
This is good news for Emma, especially seeing as she had basically just returned from lingering back issues when she was put on the shelf again. Best of luck to her in her continuing rehab and recovery.
