Y2J’s NYC Altercation

WWE SmackDown Live superstar Chris Jericho was recorded during a heated exchange with a fan. Following a tribute show for musician David Z at New York City’s Irving Plaza, Jericho was seen signing autographs and takings pictures with people. According to TMZ Sports, Jericho was ready to leave and had to turn down fans’ requests. An alleged fan said he was trying to congratulate Jericho on his recent match against Kevin Owens and AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship. Jericho can be heard being dismissive and saying expletives.

In a statement to TMZ Sports, Jericho said:

“David Z was a good friend of mine and I was mentally and emotionally shattered after paying tribute to him and essentially saying goodbye to him Friday night.”

“I was not in a good state of mind at that time and instead of ignoring a pushy (aka rude) fan which is what I would usually do, I snapped. My apologies to all involved and God bless David Z.”

Pete Dunne on WWE’s UK Scene

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne spoke with Sky Sports about the WWE’s growing partnership with the UK scene. According to Dunne, it’s best for the WWE and the independent scene to collaborate.

“It’s not an attempt to destroy the independent scene, it’s a great feeder system for WWE. Opportunities like this aren’t just great for us, they’re great for everyone. It’s only natural to see more of this in the future.”

Dunne also spoke about his fantastic NXT TakeOver: Chicago match against Tyler Bate for the United Kingdom Championship.

“It’s been mental. I’ve ticked off a lot of goals already, there are too many to mention. In a few months I’ve taped shows, been on tours, held a WWE title and now it’s full circle and I get to show what the independents can do.”

“At Takeover we felt a lot of pressure to show what the UK scene is capable of. We assumed we were unknown, went to kill it and our goal was to be so good it increases the pressure for a UK show. We want it, fans want it and we feel we helped with that.”
