Wendy’s Restaurants Joins The Dark Order (They Even Have A Number)

I love a good sense of humor with wrestling. The wrestling industry is in a weird place when it comes to pop culture. Almost everyone knows that it exists and there are going to be some names known to the masses, but there are several who are complete unknowns outside of the wrestling bubble. Sometimes those names are given a little boost outside of the bubble, and that is the case again.
One of the more controversial storylines in AEW’s young history is the Dark Order. The team did not exactly start off strong but they have improved quite a bit in recent months. With Brodie Lee as their leader, the team has even picked up a little bit of gold. Things are looking up for the Dark Order and now it seems that a whole company wants to be part of the team.
Earlier this week, a fan sent out a tweet asking some wrestlers to wish him happy birthday. Also included was Wendy’s restaurants, which Chris Jericho referenced while wishing the fan a happy birthday. Wendy’s responded by asking if the..

REVIEW: Survivor Series 1995: Bring It Back

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Survivor Series 1995
Date: November 19, 1995
Location: USAir Arena, Landover, Maryland
Attendance: 14,500
Commentators: Vince McMahon, Mr. Perfect, Jim Ross
It’s time for the annual redo and I’m curious to see what we’re going to see here. We have some big stuff on the show, including Diesel defending the WWF Title against Bret Hart in a match whose result should be pretty clear after how badly Diesel’s last big title defense went. Let’s get to it.
Mr. Perfect gets a big intro to do commentary. That’s quite the diff..

WWE RUMOR: Surprising Name To Become A Top Monday Night Raw Star

Get used to him. There are a lot of people on the WWE roster and several of them are in different places after the recent Draft. The event shook things up all over the place and in some cases it gave people a fresh start, either on a new brand or against new opponents. That was a big help for some people and in once case, it might be the start of a rather nice step in their career.
One of the bigger surprises during the Draft was the return of Elias, who had been out of action for five months with a torn pectoral muscle. Elias returned on the Monday Night Raw night of the Draft and attacked Jeff Hardy, which has set up a match with Hardy at Hell In A Cell. This comes just before Elias is scheduled to release an album next week. It also might play a role in something a little bit bigger.
According to Inside The Ropes, Elias will be a fixture on Monday Night Raw and presented as one of the bigger stars on the show. Part of the reason for his move to Monday Night Raw was to allow him fo..

Austin Theory Quits NXT, Walks Out After Two Losses

So long? There are a lot of different ways to present wrestling stories and some of them are going to be more successful than others. Several of them involve winning and losing matches in one way or another, but there are a few that involve losing over and over. Sometimes these end badly, and that might be the case with a storyline currently taking place on NXT.
There are some wrestlers where you see star power as soon as they appear on screen. That is the kind of thing you don’t get to see very often because they are few and far between. It seemed to be the case with Austin Theory, who came off like a near prodigy in his early 20s. Some real life issues with the SpeakOut Movement slowed him down a bit (as they should) but now he is back, though not quite in the same way.
This week on NXT, Theory was defeated by Bronson Reed. Following the match, Theory said that he was not leaving until he defeated Reed, who then beat Theory in less than fifteen seconds. Later in the night, Theory w..

New Scary Match Set For Halloween Havoc

That sounds scary. It is October and that means that Halloween is going to get some extra attention. That is the case with the wrestling world as well and for once, WWE is capitalizing on the most well known Halloween themed name in wrestling history. On October 28, NXT is bringing back Halloween Havoc and now we have another rather creepy sounding match on the card.
There are a lot of odd people in wrestling and Dexter Lumis is one of the stranger going today. He barely ever speaks but draws various pictures, often showing someone in some kind of pain. Lumis also rarely feels pain and tends to have the same blank expression on his face most of the time. That isn’t someone you want after you most of the time but Cameron Grimes will have to deal with him next week.
This week on NXT, Grimes vs. Lumis was confirmed for Halloween Havoc in a Haunted House Of Terror match. There were no rules or explanations given for the match, which comes about after Grimes cost Lumis his shot at the Nor..

Why WWE Dropped Monday Night Raw Storyline

That’s pretty straightforward. WWE has a lot of television time to fill and that has been the case for a very long time now. What has also been the case for a very long time now is WWE having some issues filling in all that time. At some point you are going to run out of ideas or ways out of a story, which means that some of them might not have the best conclusion. This time though, one didn’t even have a conclusion at all.
Over the summer on Monday Night Raw, Angel Garza constantly hit on backstage interviewer Charly Caruso. The two showed some romantic chemistry and with Garza being pushed as a romantic, Caruso seemed interested in him. Then the story was suddenly dropped without much of an explanation. Caruso has since offered an explanation, though it might not be well received.
A fan on Twitter asked Caruso why the story with Garza was randomly stopped like so many other WWE stories. Caruso responded, saying that it too was randomly stopped, offering no other explanation and sug..

REVIEW: Halloween Havoc 1997: The Old One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Halloween Havoc 1997
Date: October 26, 1997
Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
Attendance: 12,457
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Dusty Rhodes, Bobby Heenan
This was another request and since I want to get some WCW PPVs done I have no problem knocking this one out. We’re two months out from Starrcade so this show doesn’t mean much. We have something resembling a double main event with Hogan vs. Piper in a cage and DDP vs. Savage in what would be called a last man standing match. Let’s get to it.
After..

“Massive” Face Turn On Monday Night Raw That You Probably Missed

That’s where it goes. There have been a lot of changes in WWE over the last few weeks and some of them have been rather big. With so many moves being made, it can be difficult trying to figure out what has been going on. This involves some people moving from one show to another but some have also stayed where they were before the Draft. One of the latter is making another change.
Over the last few weeks, Lana has been attacked by Nia Jax one time after another, including being driven through the announcers’ table four times in a row. However, Lana managed to survive until the end of a battle royal on last week’s Monday Night Raw and became #1 contender to the Raw Women’s Title despite being put through a table. It turns out that WWE has a little more in mind than just making a #1 contender.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lana winning the battle royal after being put through a table was designed to be part of a “massive” face turn. The idea is that the fans will cheer..

WWE RUMOR: Vince McMahon Doesn’t Care If People Don’t Like This Wrestler

His opinion matters. While your opinion on him may vary, Vince McMahon is the most powerful person in all of the wrestling world. His sole opinion can determine what happens to anyone in the wrestling industry in the blink of an eye. This can also cause some issues, as McMahon alone can keep something going no matter what anyone else wants and that seems to be the case again now.
One of the surprises on last week’s Season Premiere of SmackDown was Goldberg appearing in the virtual crowd for the main event. Goldberg watched Roman Reigns defending the Universal Title against Braun Strowman, who had defeated Goldberg to win the title at WrestleMania 36. Goldberg has been around the WWE on and off for years and McMahon thinks that’s a good thing.
According to Inside The Ropes, McMahon thinks that there is still value in the Goldberg name and does not care about any negativity that people see in him. Goldberg is expected to continue wrestling for WWE for at least a few more years to come…

AEW Dominating All Other Wrestling Television Audiences (In One Place)

I’d call that a win. WWE has been the undisputed king of professional wrestling for a very long time now and that is still the case for the most part. However, for the first time in decades, WWE has some serious competition in the form of All Elite Wrestling. The company has made an instant impact on the wrestling world and it turns out that they are a big deal outside the United States as well.
Over the last year, AEW has been fairly regularly defeating NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars television ratings and audience. NXT has picked up a few wins here and there but for the most part, it has been the AEW Dynamite show. This has been quite the selling point for AEW so far, and it seems that they have another point to brag about, even if it is from around the world.
AEW Vice President Cody has sent out a tweet detailing AEW’s success on television in the United Kingdom. The tweet includes the following information:
• AEW Dynamite is beating the first-run broadcast of all of its competi..

WWE May Be Giving AJ Styles A Very Big Upgrade

What might be. WWE is undergoing a lot of changes at the moment and a lot of that has to do with the WWE Draft. Several of the wrestlers on both the Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters were shifted around, opening up several new doors for storylines and character development. That could involve someone who is new to the main roster and needing his big break.
One of the more important changes in the Draft was AJ Styles being moved back to Monday night Raw. After spending the last year on SmackDown, it was time for Styles to see what he could do elsewhere. Styles is the kind of person who can work well with anyone and that could be the case with a lot of people on Monday Night Raw, including someone you might not have expected.
According to Fightful Select, WWE had considered making Jordan Omogbehin into a bodyguard for Styles. Omogbehin has been serving as the security for Raw underground and had a brief staredown with Braun Strowman on Monday Night Raw. He also portrayed the giant..

Big Show Earns Acting Award Nomination

He’s getting better. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to entertainment. They are portraying characters, but for some reason there are always going to be people reminding you that it is fake. You don’t get this in other forms of acting, but wrestlers are treated differently for some reason. That doesn’t mean they can’t act, and that was on display for one notable wrestler recently.
The Big Show, real name Paul Wight, really is one of the most unique wrestlers in the world. In addition to his size and physical attributes, Big Show has a great charisma and comedic timing that you don’t get from a lot of other wrestlers. That is the kind of thing could serve him elsewhere outside of the ring and it seems to have done that in a place you might not have expected to see.
Big Show has been nominated for an acting award for his role in the film Marcus. The film has been nominated for several awards at the Eastern European International Film Festival, with Big Show receiving a nomi..
