It’s the holiday edition of the show and that is not likely to mean a single thing around here. Main Event continues to be a show that just kind of floats around, though in this case the show is going to be Raw only as Survivor Series has come and gone. Therefore Smackdown ceases to exist for this week, which could be a good thing. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
We open with MizTV with , Miz and Morrison doing their usual intro by plugging everything. With that out of the way, it’s time to bring out their guests: Retribution. Miz and Morrison enjoy Retribution’s theme song as I try to figure out what in the world I’m watching. Morrison asks what’s up with their weird names, which Mustafa Ali doesn’t care to hear.

Well there’s your surprise. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works in a good way. The company has opened a new stage of all kinds of wrestlers and that is a positive change for everyone involved. It gives wrestlers young and old another high level place to go and it could be very interesting to see where some of those changes are going. That was the case again this week.
There are certain people in wrestling who are absolute legends. Just by looking at them, you know who they are and almost everything about them because they have earned their reputation. That is the case with several wrestlers who do not actually get in the ring anymore, but still pop up every now and then for a special cameo. AEW offered that again with a legendary name.

Winter is coming and….or wait is Winter here now? Anyway it’s a huge show with a mega main event of Kenny Omega challenging Jon Moxley for the World Title. That would have seemed to be a pay per view main event level match but I can see why they couldn’t wait until late February. Let’s get to it.

Meet the new class. NXT is a rather unique wrestling promotion as not only do they exist as their own wrestling show but they are also the official developmental promotion for WWE. That means the ultimate goal of an NXT wrestler is to make the main roster, meaning that the NXT roster is rapidly changing. That is the case again, as some new names are being brought in.
There are all kinds of talented wrestlers in the world outside of WWE and AEW. Those names might not get the same kind of attention that the mainstream wrestling names get, but they are good enough to make it in a major promotion. That means that WWE is going to bring in some of those wrestlers from time to time and that is what they are doing again, with three names headlining the class.

Believe it or not we are well on the way to Final Battle and I’m not sure how many matches have actually been set up for the show. Actually I’m not even sure how many matches have been teased for the show, which makes for a fairly important next few weeks. Hopefully they can get off to a good start here. Let’s get to it.

Something has to headline. The Coronavirus pandemic has wiped out a lot of the wrestling that was scheduled to take place this year. There are only so many ways to have wrestling going when you cannot have crowds or anything close to them, which caused several wrestling promotions to shift towards Best Of shows or have nothing at all. Some of them are back though, and one of them is getting ready for their biggest show of the year.
Ring Of Honor was one of the higher profile promotions to go on hiatus for a good chunk of the year. That was quite the problem for the company as they have only been back for a few months now, leaving them without much time to get ready for Final Battle, their biggest show of the year. The event is scheduled to take place on December 18 and now we have a main event for the card.

We are less than a month away from Tables, Ladders And Chairs and that means we are going to be seeing a lot of different gimmick matches taking place on the same show. Ignoring how kind of insane it is to run at least four special matches like that on one card, there is one match in particular that has yet to be announced just yet but you can all but guarantee it being set up in one form or another. We are going to be looking at that one match today, along with the big problem that comes along with it.
Over the last few months, Nia Jax has shown her continuing ability to be quite the bully around Monday Night Raw. This time around, her targets have been set on Lana, who Jax put through a table nine straight times. That’s quite the level of overkill and it was almost a relief to see Lana not go through a table for a tenth time. It was time for a change, but the new direction isn’t quite the big upgrade.

I’m not sure what to make of things around here. Last week’s show wasn’t the worst but it also didn’t exactly live up to the expectations that had been built up during the hiatus. It’s time to start the Opera Cup again and while it’s a nice idea, it’s not like the first one was a blow away idea. Let’s get to it.

We look at the end of last week’s show with a new member of Contra attacking Alex Hammerstone.
Earlier today, Richard Holliday didn’t think much of Contra and promises that Hammerstone will be fine. He runs into Gino Medina, who claims he quit the Dynasty while Holliday insisted he was fired. Medina implies violence by the end of the night.

Shine them up. While there are a lot of them in WWE today, titles are still what drives a good portion of the stories in wrestling. In theory, winning championships are why wrestlers compete in the first place and that makes them as important as anything else. Some people would do a lot of things to get a title, and now we might know where one such title is heading.
One of the more discussed stories on Monday Night Raw over the last few weeks has been that of Nia Jax bullying Lana. Jax has put Lana through the announcers’ table nine times in a row and Lana has only recently started to fight back. The endgame of the story seems to be Lana getting her revenge, and now she might have some help in doing just that, while possibly picking up some gold along the way.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this week’s Monday Night Raw match with Asuka and Lana defeating Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in a non-title match could set up a Women’s Tag Team Title match at Tables, Ladders And Chairs. ..

Already? Wrestling retirements are a funny thing as they have a tendency to not stick. Terry Funk’s first retirement match took place in 1983 and his most recent match took place in 2017, with Funk working around the wrestling world since then. It is very rare to see someone actually stay retired in wrestling and this time around, someone did not wait long before changing their mind.
Bringing a wrestler out of retirement is not the world thing that can be done, as it can be fascinating to see if someone still has it after their time away from the ring. This is a tricky balance to find though, as someone being gone for a long time can make them a shell of their former self, but if someone has not been gone very long in the first place, the comeback does not matter all that much. There is another comeback taking place, and the name may surprise you.

You would be surprised too. This past weekend, WWE said goodbye to Undertaker after a thirty year in-ring career. That is the kind of thing that you don’t expect to see but it finally had to happen. Undertaker has been a bit past his prime for a good many years now but there is still something to be said about that gong going off. At the same time though, there is something else Undertaker can do and now we are getting to see just that.
One of the more interesting things to see over the last several months has been the other side of the Undertaker. Instead of being the character, it has been a lot more Mark Calaway in recent months, as he has given several interviews and shown the man behind the character. It takes some getting used to and now we are seeing a slightly funnier side of him as well.
