WATCH: Miami Dolph Does Awesome Steve Austin Impression

He’s kind of a legend. There are certain names that keep coming up in the history of wrestling greats and Steve Austin is almost always on that list. Austin was a master at just about every aspect of wrestling and his style certainly got him some attention over the years. Various things that he has done over the years have become iconic, and you can still see them around today, which was the case this weekend.
There are several things that Austin is noted for and one of the biggest is beer. Austin was famous for drinking several beers after a match, often declaring a beer bash to end his shows. It was such a big part of his persona that he has released his own brand of beer in his retirement. Austin and beer go together, and now another kind of athlete is paying a bit of a tribute to him.
You might recognize this. Check out a pretty cool Austin tribute:

WATCH: AEW Stars Reenact A Christmas Story

It comes with the partnership. AEW has become one of the hottest wrestling companies in recent memory and they have done so in a hurry. The company has only been around for less than two years and their weekly Dynamite show has been around even less than that. A lot of their success has come from their partnership with TNT, and now they are getting in on another aspect of that partnership.
One of the perks of being on TNT is being associated with the Turner name, which includes both TNT and TBS. The two networks are often presented as a mixture of drama and comedy, offering quite the mixture. AEW does offer some comedy on occasion so there is a way to tie things together. That is what they are doing now, though it has nothing to do with wrestling.
They might need a casting director. Check out what AEW has done now:

AEW has released a preview of some of its wrestlers reenacting clips from the movie A Christmas Story, which TNT airs in a 24 hour marathon on Christmas Day. The clip fe..

REVIEW: Saturday Night’s Main Event #14: You Can See It Coming

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Saturday Night’s Main Event #14
Date: January 2, 1988
Location: Capital Center, Landover, Maryland
Attendance: 11,000
Commentators: Jesse Ventura, Vince McMahon

It’s a new year and Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant is the only story of note at the moment. We’re getting very close to the rematch and the contract will be signed in just a few weeks on a free television special called the Royal Rumble. Getting King Kong Bundy out of the way is little more than a formality so let’s get to it.

Double Video: Two Returns Take Place On Monday Night Raw

Welcome back. There are a lot of people working for WWE and at times it can be easy to lose track of some of them. With so many people around, sometimes a few of them might leave television for long periods of time for one reason or another, during which time the fans could forget about them. That makes a surprise return special, and fans were treated to two of them on Monday.
There are a few different reasons to write someone off of television, but there are far more ways to write someone out. WWE has all kinds of creative ways to get someone out of a storyline, though occasionally they don’t even bother to give you an explanation. This week’s show featured a return from both situations and they both came in rather different ways.
Two returns took place this week on Monday Night Raw. First, Jaxson Ryker made his return to one of the main shows as Elias’ new bodyguard, after only appearing once on Main Event earlier this month. Ryker had been taken off of television due to Twitter co..

How Vince McMahon Almost Wrestled At CombatMania 33

He would do it too. There are some unique characters in the wrestling world but there is only one Vince McMahon. In addition to being the most influential and powerful main in modern wrestling, McMahon is also someone who can never be duplicated no matter what. Sometimes you see him do things that are hard to fathom at times, and we almost saw another item added to that list a few years ago.
In addition to being the owner of WWE, McMahon is also someone who has appeared on camera on and off for more than forty years. That is impressive enough on its own but sometimes McMahon even gets in te ring. For someone who doesn’t have any traditional formal training, McMahon does quite well most of the time and has even won a few titles in his day. It turns out that he almost got in the ring again on the big stage.
Kevin Owens recently spoke to Alex McCarthy of TalkSport, during which he revealed that McMahon was originally scheduled to team with his son Shane McMahon against Owens and Sami Za..

Elias Was “Offended” By Legends Taking Spots On Main Shows

Can you blame him? There are so many wrestlers in WWE at the moment and that is a rather good thing. You can never have too much talent to pick from, though sometimes that can present a problem for the wrestlers themselves. At some point you run out of places to put all of these wrestlers, and that can be a problem if someone else gets their place. That was the case again with one current WWE star.
One of the main criticisms of modern WWE is the lack of new star power. This is made even worse when a legend shows up and outshine the younger wrestlers, which could be the case for a variety of reasons. If nothing else, WWE tends to treat its legends like huge deals and that can cause some issues for others involved. One WWE star does not seem to like the idea and has said something about it.
Elias recently appeared on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast and spoke about his issues with legends appearing on major shows. Elias said that he was offended by people like Shawn Michaels, Unde..

Lana Not Competing At 2020 TLC Pay-Per-View

The show must go on. On tonight’s edition of WWE Raw, Lana took on Nia Jax in a match that would be a preview to this Sunday’s Women’s Tag Team Championship match at the 2020 TLC pay-per-view. However, things didn’t go as planned and now there is a slight predicament for Asuka moving forward.
According to a report from WWE.com, Lana will not be competing at this year’s event, due to an attack from Jax and Shayna Baszler, the current Tag Team champions. You can see footage of their match and the aftermath below:

From WWE.com:
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions were slated to defend their titles against Raw Women’s Champion Asuka & Lana, but the brutal actions of Jax & Baszler changed the equation. A devastating attack resulted in an injury that has left Lana unable to compete and forced Asuka to find a new partner of her choosing before Sunday’s showdown.
The Empress of Tomorrow & Lana struck gold when first teaming together in impromptu fashion the night after Survivor Series, wit..

AEW And Impact Wrestling Working Together On Television

What a combination. The wrestling world is in a weird place at the moment as you have WWE, AEW, and then everyone else (at least in America). That is something that is still new for wrestling as WWE had controlled the landscape for such a long time. AEW has come a long way, but they are still pretty far behind WWE. Now though, they might have some extra backup helping them.
While WWE and AEW are the biggest wrestling companies around, there are other national promotions out there. Multiple wrestling companies have national television series but they might not have the same name recognition as other promotions. Couple those together and there is some significant value. One of those companies is going to be working with AEW for the near future.
It was a surprise. Check out the reveal at the end of this week’s AEW Dynamite:

This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Kenny Omega defeat Jon Moxley to become the new AEW World Champion. Impact Wrestling executive Don Callis was on commentary..

New Grudge Match Added To NXT Takeover: WarGames

There’s still time for one more. We are less than a week away from Takeover: WarGames and as usual, NXT has a lot of the work done in advance. They have covered almost everything that needs to be done beforehand but there is always time to add in something else. That is what they managed to do this week as a grudge match was added to the card at the last minute.
While wrestling has evolved a lot over the years, there are some things that will never change. One of the biggest is needing people who know how to get down on a mat and grapple with an opponent. That’s where wrestling began and as a result, there is always room for someone with that kind of a character. NXT has one of their own at the moment and he will be in action on Sunday.
WWE.com has confirmed that Timothy Thatcher will face Tommaso Ciampa at Takeover: WarGames. The match came about after Thatcher challenged Ciampa during this week’s NXT. It will be the first match between the two and is the result of Ciampa interrupti..

REVIEW: In Your House: Rock Bottom: The Christmas Nightmare

Rock Bottom: In Your House #26
Date: December 13, 1998
Location: General Motors Place, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Attendance: 20,042
Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler
We’re closing out 1998 with this and we’re once again in the death slot to end the year. December has almost always been a bad month for pay per views as the holidays usually mean people have less money to spend on wrestling. It also doesn’t help that the main event is a rematch where a new champion would be a major surprise. Let’s get to it.
We open with a video of the grave being set up for later tonight.
Rock was at Planet Hollywood yesterday and introduces us to his PPV because we need to get used to all the rock themed PPVs: Rock Solid, Rock and Roll, and Laying the Smacketh Down. The fans just need to sit back and enjoy his pay per view, if you smell what he’s cooking.
The opening video shows Undertaker talking about taking Austin’s soul and giving it to the Ministry of Darkness. He promises to t..

John Cena Releasing Two Books In 2021

In case he isn’t awesome enough. Every now and then you see someone in wrestling who does one cool thing after another. Of course they aren’t perfect and there are things that could use some adjusting, but you see something about them that makes them almost inspiring in a way. That is the case with one wrestling legend and now he is writing some of those inspirations down.
Whether you are a fan of his or not, there is no denying that John Cena was a huge star during his time in WWE. Cena was the face of the company for a very long time and did a lot of things to make WWE better. One of the things that was seen well was his charity work with Make A Wish kids, with Cena shattering the all time record for most children visited. Cena is an inspiration to those kids and now he is trying to do the same thing again in a different way.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cena will release two books based off of inspirational statements posted to his Twitter account over the years. The first..

Major Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

History has been made! Despite all of the success that they have had, AEW has still not been around all that long. They have made some great strides in a limited time but it is still one of the younger top level companies in the wrestling world today. That being said, what they have done so far is rather impressive but they still have a lot of history to make. Some of that was accomplished this week.
One of AEW’s greatest strengths is in its talent roster. The company has all kinds of incredible wrestlers from around the world with varying levels of experience and exposure. That mixture has done very well for them all and it gives them an impressive roster that can match up against anyone. Now one of the biggest stars in the company has reached the very top.
Kenny Omega defeated Jon Moxley to become the new AEW World Champion this week on AEW Dynamite. Omega won the match with an assist from Impact Wrestling’s Don Callis, who was on commentary for the match. The win makes Omega the t..
