Fusion #122
Date: February 17, 2021
Location: Filthy Island, Hawaii
Commentators: Dan Lambert, Tom Lawlor, Jared St. Laurent, Rich Bocchini
It’s time for a special event as MLW offers their take on UFC’s Fight Island. As long as we don’t have to deal with another Fyre Fest joke, I’m all for trying something new, as MLW is getting weaker and weaker every show. The main event is a long awaited showdown between Low Ki and King Mo. Let’s get to it.
We get a disclaimer that MLW assumes no liability on the show.
Tom Lawlor tells Dominic Garrini that there is a problem with catering, meaning there is no spam. Lawlor sends him down to the port and hands him a bottle of something. Garrini: “You want me to drown him?” Lawlor: “It’s for you.” Garrini stares into the camera.
Opening sequence.
Commentary welcomes us to the show and runs down the card.

WWE Announces Set Of Biographies And New Series

Another showcase. Wrestling is one of the most unique forms of entertainment in the world as there really is nothing like it. The entire industry is a mixture of athleticism, drama, comedy, romance and more with most of it taking place live. That is hard enough to pull off, but having the right roster can help things so much. Those people are some of the most important people around and now some of them are getting a closer look.
We have been seeing a bit of a renaissance of interest in wrestling in recent years as there have been several different looks at wrestling. This has included books, documentaries, movies and television shows, but now we are going to be seeing two of them together in a long format. WWE is getting in on it this time as well, and that could be rather interesting in the right circumstances.
WWE has announced the schedule for a ten week partnership with the A&E Network, which will begin on April 18. The partnership includes eight two hour editions of the A&E Bio..

Possibly Injury Takes Place On Monday Night Raw

It can happen to anyone. There are all kinds of ways for an injury to take place in wrestling and that can make for some rather scary moments. You never know how long someone is going to be out of action or how nasty the injury could be, leaving people wondering just how bad things are. That seemed to be the case this week on Monday Night Raw and now we could be dealing with the fallout.
One of the interesting stories from last weekend’s Elimination Chamber pay per view event saw Riddle win the United States Title from Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match, also involving John Morrison. Riddle pinned Morrison to become the new champion, which according to WWE logic meant that Riddle would face Morrison the next night in a non-title match. Things did not work out so well.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, Morrison may have suffered an injury during a dive in his match against Riddle. Morrison landed on Riddle during the dive but his knee landed on the floor. He was seen limping l..

What Does “Angry Miz Girl” Think About His Recent Title Win?

One of the most infamous professional wrestling fans of all time is Caley, who is better known as “Angry Miz Girl”. This fan was visually upset in 2010 when The Miz won his first WWE Championship and was not afraid to show off her displeasure.

But what does Caley think about the idea that he is once again the WWE Champion?
She recently spoke with Abhilash Mendhe of Sportskeeda and had the following to say regarding the title change:
“I personally think he’s one of the best on the roster, I know it’s a big change from my opinion 10 years ago but I love him when he’s a heel champion, I think he’s got the personality for it down to a T.”
“I loved meeting The Miz and he was always super kind to me and he worked super hard, so I definitely think he deserves it.”
Her reaction earned her a Slammy back in 2010:

How Jon Moxley Got Ric Flair Arrested (Allegedly)

That’s a wrestling story. There are certain stories that you hear that could only exist in wrestling. A business that is built around carrying on a huge lie throughout every match and show makes for a rather unique situation. Some wrestlers are more famous for their stories than their in-ring abilities but others are known for both. That is the case again, though the story does not have the happiest ending.
There are almost no legends in wrestling history on the same level as Ric Flair. Not only is he one of the best in-ring wrestlers of all time but there are more stories about him than anyone not named Andre The Giant. Flair has done more things and caused more chaos than almost anyone ever, though sometimes he is not the most innocent in the whole thing. Even though he is retired, Flair is not done just yet.
In a new interview with the Metro, Jon Moxley told a story of he and Flair getting drunk at an airport bar when Moxley was wrestling as Dean Ambrose in WWE. Flair would wind u..

Problems Continue Between Retribution After Monday Night Raw

Things aren’t looking great. Stables are an interesting way to go in wrestling as there are great at giving a lot of people screen time at once. Sometimes you are going to have wrestlers who cannot get somewhere on their own so putting them together makes sense. That was the case in theory with a recent Monday Night Raw stable, but things are already falling apart.
Debuting back in August, Retribution has had quite the rocky history. The team never felt like it had the most logical or clear direction and the members did not exactly receive the strongest pushes. Adding Mustafa Ali as the leader helped somewhat, but did not solve all of the problems. Those problems still abound to this day and now we might be seeing them overwhelm the team.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Ali vented his frustrations with the team after another loss. The following day, other members of the team complained as well, with some of the complaints directed at Ali himself. Reckoning asked how much longer they w..

WWE Sees Something Special In Damien Priest

He got their attention. A wrestler’s introduction is one of the most important thing a wrestler can have as a good one can make them a star while a bad one can ruin their career in a hurry. Someone not making a good first impression can drag them down but if they get the right kind of attention, everything can go in the right direction in a hurry. That seems to be the case with a new WWE star.
Back at the Royal Rumble, Damien Priest made his main roster debut and had quite the showing in the men’s Royal Rumble match. That is the kind of introduction that several wrestlers have had over the years with some of the results being better than others. Priest has an interesting wrinkle to his early main roster run though and that could go multiple ways. So how is it going for him?
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE officials like Priest and have been impressed by how his time on the main roster has gone so far. Priest is seen as the potential next top Latin American star, which the ..

Elimination Chamber 2021 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

We’re on the Road To Wrestlemania and since WWE likes to have a few extra events these days, we have two pay per views before we can get there. This time around that includes Elimination Chamber, which does have something interesting with the show’s namesake matches. They’re doing something different with the two World Title matches this time around so maybe they’ll have something. Let’s get to it.
US Title: Bobby Lashley(c) vs. Keith Lee vs. Riddle Lashley is on a heck of a roll as US Champion but I’m not sure if he is going to hang onto the title here. They have done a nice job of setting up the match but that’s assuming you ignore the absence of Lee, who was not even on the go home Raw. I’m not sure if that is going to be a big deal, but at the same time, it could give them an out to retain the title because WWE doesn’t mind having Lee lose quite often.
I’ll go with Lashley retaining the title, though I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be champion. In theory he should be on the wa..

WATCH: Edge Pays Touching Tribute To Brodie Lee

That’s sweet. Back in December, the wrestling world was shaken up in a pretty horrible way as AEW star Brodie Lee suddenly passed away due to issues with his lungs. Lee’s passing came out of nowhere and left everyone pausing for a few days. AEW’s tribute to him was one of the best things any wrestling promotion has put together in a very long time. That does not mean the tributes are over though and we saw another one this weekend.
Wrestling is an international sport and there have been incredibly talented wrestlers from all over the world. While the majority of the wrestlers you see on American television are from America, you will see several other countries represented as well. One of the more prominently features in the wrestling world is Canada, and one of the bigger Canadian stars of all time paid a tribute to Lee over a special bond.
This is just great. Check out Edge’s big appearance (and notice the shirt):

WATCH: Paul Heyman Can’t Get A Word Out Of Apollo Crews

I guess not. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to find something for everyone to do. Sometimes you need to mix things up a bit to find something new for them and that can cause some issues. Every now and then, these changes can be for the better and that seemed to be the case this week on SmackDown, but the followup might be a little strange.
One of the bigger stories to come out of this week’s edition of SmackDown was Apollo Crews attacking Big E. and Shinsuke Nakamura after Nakamura defeated Crews in a match. The attack came after Big E. had denied Crews another Intercontinental Title shot and told Crews to return to catering and have a seat. As a result, Crews attacked Nakamura and then used the steps to take Big E. out, even putting him on the shelf for a bit according to Kayla Braxton on Talking Smack. Now Crews has been asked about what he did, but the response was a little more complicated.
You might not need to listen. Check out Crews on Talking Sm..

AEW Star Reveals Injury Has Kept Him Out For Weeks

It happens to everyone. There are a lot of different wrestlers and wrestling promotions in the world today and some of them are a good bit higher profile than others. AEW is near the top of the list both in America and the world today and a lot of that is due to their roster. The company has some great wrestlers and now one more of them will be able to get back in the ring.
One of the best things a wrestling company can have is a wrestler who can work with anyone. Having someone so versatile can help quite a bit as you can put them with any kind of opponent and get a perfectly fine, if not rather good, match. AEW has quite a few such wrestlers and soon they are going to have another now that he is healthy after an injury.
Former AEW Tag Team Champion Scorpio Sky sent out a tweet where he revealed that he would be wrestling his first match in six weeks after suffering a torn meniscus. Sky said that he was shaking off the ring rust off and getting ready to return to the ring. During th..
