Why SmackDown Star Missed WrestleMania

Send him a get well wine. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way the wrestling world works and those changes are not going to be entirely fixed for a very long time to come. Wrestlers have been trying to find a way to keep themselves safe since the start of the situation and some have done so in different ways than others. That does not even include various other health problems, one of which might have kept someone off of the biggest show of the year.
We are just done with WrestleMania and that means it is time to start dealing with all of the fallout. That includes looking at what is next for everyone who appeared on the show, as they could be in for a new path going forward following WrestleMania. At the same time though, there are some people who did not appear on the show and now we know why that is the case for at least one of them.
One of the matches during the second night of WrestleMania 37 saw Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler successfully defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team ..

WATCH: Former Champion Makes NXT Debut

Nice to meet you. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today and thanks to modern technology, you can now see more of them than ever before. There is so much content out there that it is impossible to keep track of everything and that gives fans all kinds of options. That makes it very fun when you see different wrestlers pop up every now and then. We saw that again this week.
After starting as little more than an internet show that served as filler content, NXT has become one of the most prominent wrestling shows in the world. It airs every week on the USA network for two hours every Tuesday night, allowing fans a chance to see the stars of tomorrow. As a result, wrestlers are going to want to see who winds up coming to the promotion and now we have another fresh face.
One of the most exciting moments in wrestling is seeing someone new but familiar show up on a wrestling show. You never know who you might be seeing debut on any given show and that was the case this w..

VIDEO: Two Special Cameos Take Place In NXT (This Is So Cool)

A special moment. We are coming up on the sixth anniversary of the WWE Women’s Revolution, which is one of the most important moves forward in modern wrestling history. The move changed the way that wrestling is presented and saw several new names reaching the top of the women’s division. Now we have another generation starting up and they got their own moment.
One of the biggest stories coming out of the last week has been the crowning of three new Women’s Champions. The three women’s singles titles in WWE have all changed hands over the last week, with the Raw Women’s Title, SmackDown Women’s Title and NXT Women’s Title all having new champions crowned. It turns out that it was a big enough moment that it needed to see a pretty incredible moment.
This was really, really cool. Check out what happened on NXT and the followup:

Surprise Title Change Takes Place On NXT

The next show surprise. Last wee, NXT presents its biggest ever Takeover event with Takeover: Stand & Deliver, which ran over two nights for the first time in history. The show featured a completely stacked card and that is exactly how it should have gone. There were some title changes as NXT moved some of their champions into a new era. Now one of those eras has already changed.
One of the biggest matches at Takeover was a ladder match between Santos Escobar and Jordan Devlin to unify the Cruiserweight Titles. The two were both champions, as Devlin originally won the title but had to stay in the United Kingdom due to Coronavirus restrictions. Escobar became champion as well and then won the ladder match to unify the titles. The undisputed reign was on, but then there was another act.
Kushida defeated Escobar during this week’s edition of NXT, becoming the new NXT Champion. This marks Kushida’s first reign with the title and his first championship win in NXT. Escobar came to the ring..

WWE Makes Change To Pay Per View Schedule

You might need an erasable pen. WrestleMania 37 has come and gone and now it is time for WWE to get back to its regular schedule. This includes running its more traditional pay per views, many of which have a rather deep history of their own. WWE knows how to present a lot of different shows in their own ways and that is going to be the case again, albeit with an altered schedule.
One of the most important things to do following WrestleMania is take the proper next step. That means finding stories and angles that go in the right direction, because WWE is going to want to keep up as much of the momentum as they can. That is easier said than done, but they have already set up a main event for their next pay per view. It just isn’t the one that was originally planned.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has changed their pay per view schedule and swapped WrestleMania: Backlash and Money in the Bank. WrestleMania: Backlash has been announced for May 16, which was originally planne..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – April 13, 2021

NXT
Date: April 13, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett
We’re officially on a new night now and that means things should be getting all the more interesting. This is also coming off of Takeover: Stand & Deliver and we have quite a few changes to deal with tonight. The good thing is Raw left a pretty low bar for this show to clear. Let’s get to it.
Here are Karrion Kross and Scarlett to interrupt. Kross says time comes for everyone and promised to get the title back. Finn Balor went on a tear as NXT Champion but he couldn’t control Kross and Kross controls everything. He is going to hold this title until he says otherwise because no one is going to out train or out wrestle him. It doesn’t matter what you have done before or how many zeroes are on the end of your check, because everyone pays the toll.
We get a video on Takeover (which starts with Michael Cole sounding like he is talking about Wrestlemania s..

REVIEW: Backlash 2003: Oh Just No

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Backlash 2003
Date: April 27, 2003
Location: Worcester Centrum, Worcester, Massachusetts
Attendance: 10,000
Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz, Jonathan Coachman, Jerry Lawler
If WWE held the least important pay per view in recent memory, does it matter in the slightest? This is a glorified Raw pay per view with a handful of Smackdown matches thrown in to fill out the card. It’s a really bad time for WWE at the moment and I don’t remember looking forward to a pay per view less than this one in a long time. Let’s get to..

Wrestlers Confused By Ending To WrestleMania Match

At the last second. WWE has a lot of things going on at any given time and they are rarely going to get everything right. That may not be the most popular reality but unfortunately it is the way things work for the company. Sometimes you see something that makes very little sense no matter how WWE presents it, which is what seemed to happen this weekend at WrestleMania.
This weekend, WWE presented its annual biggest show of the year with WrestleMania 37. As usual, the show features the most stacked card of the year with one major match after another. You will often see stories and rivalries come to an end at the show, which can lead to some interesting moments. That was the case this year as well, but one of the stories was changed at the last second.
According to Fightful Select, the original plan for the Fiend vs. Randy Orton match called for the Fiend to win, though Orton wound up winning the match. The match was always planned to be a singles match rather than having any form of ..

Surprising Angle Takes Place To End Monday Night Raw

What a way to wrap it up. WWE Monday Night Raw runs every single Monday of the year and a lot of the episodes are going to run together. There are very few shows which stand out over the others and that is not the biggest surprise. With so much stuff going on, how many of them are going to feel special? One certain show does each year, and this time around it ended with quite the surprise.
The Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania is often the biggest and most eventful show of the year. It is the kind of show where all kinds of things happen and that makes for some rather interesting moments. Oftentimes the show will feature debuts, returns, storyline twists and other major moments. This year’s show was a bit more subdued, but something different did happen at the end.
This week’s Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania ended with T-Bar and Mace attacking Drew McIntyre as MVP watched on. While nothing was confirmed or announced, this could suggest that the two of them have joined MVP and W..

How WrestleMania Cost Randy Orton $20,000

It was worth it. There are certain wrestlers who are going to going to be around at almost every major WWE event. Some of them are near lifers in the company and it makes sense that WWE would want them around. Every now and then they find someone who can do something for them for a very long time. This time around though, they found someone who was willing to do something else for a lot of people.
Randy Orton made his WWE debut back in 2002 and has gone on to become one of the biggest and most successful stars that the company has ever seen. Orton has won almost everything there is to win in WWE and is still wrestling at a high level today despite being in his 40s. He was in another high profile match at this year’s WrestleMania 37 and he brought his family with him at quite the cost.
The day after his victory on the second day of WrestleMania 37, Orton sent out a tweet saying that he brought his family to WrestleMania at a cost of $20,000. Orton brought his wife along with five chil..

When WWE Will Next Have Fans In Attendance

The road to normalcy returns. The Coronavirus has changed everything about the wrestling world and that has caused all kinds of issues for every promotion. That is quite the problem to get around but WWE has been doing everything that they can to keep things going as usual. Above all else, WWE has only been able to have fans in attendance during this year’s WrestleMania. That was a great moment, but when will we be seeing it again?
This weekend, WWE had about 25,000 fans inside of Raymond James Stadium for both nights of WrestleMania 37. It was the first time the promotion had seen a significant amount of fans in attendance in over thirteen months and you could feel the energy that the fans brought to the show. That is not going to be the case every week, but when could they be back?
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s next show with live fans in attendance will be Summerslam, which will take place in August. There is no word on where the show will take place or how many fan..

Several More WWE Wrestlers Backstage At WrestleMania In Gear

Always bring your gear. There are all kinds of people on the WWE roster and that means some of them are going to need to have some trouble getting on television every now and then. That makes things a little bit frustrating for a lot of the roster, which would likely be the case for someone who does not make WrestleMania. That was the case this year, but it was made even worse for some wrestlers.
WrestleMania 37 was one of the biggest events that the company has ever held as the show took place in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Just like last year, the show was split over two nights, allowing things to breathe a bit more than usual. There were fourteen matches held over the two nights, some of which included more than the usual two wrestlers. It turns out there were even more available.
According to Fightful Select, several wrestlers were backstage in their gear but were not used in any matches. These wrestlers included Peyton Royce, Jinder Mahal, Ivar and Alicia Fox, the l..
