Big E. Reveals New Details Of WrestleMania Match

You have to keep them safe. Wrestling is a unique sport in that the wrestlers are cooperating with each other but their job is to keep the fans from realizing it. That can be easier said than done in some cases as some of the matches are not the easiest to get through. Weapons matches are included, and a certain WrestleMania match needed to be kept short for the sake of some safety.
One of the major title matches at WrestleMania 37 saw Apollo Crews defeat Big E. in a Nigerian Drum Fight to become the new Intercontinental Champion. The match featured no DQ and a variety of weapons for the two to use on each other. Big E. appeared on the most recent episode of the After The Bell podcast and revealed that the match ran shorter than expected for the sake of safety. There were several kendo stick shots included in the match, which Big E. said cause more damage than fans realize. The match ran 6:50.
Crews ultimately won the match and the title thanks to interference from the debuting Comma..

Stipulation Set For Smackdown Universal Championship Match

The Tribal Chief speaks. On last night’s edition of Smackdown, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns issued a challenge to Daniel Bryan and told him that he would get another opportunity at his title. However, there was a stipulation added to the match that would shake up the Blue Brand.
If Daniel Bryan fails to win the championship next week, he will be banned from Smackdown forever.
You can see the challenge below:

It had been previously reported that Bryan’s contract is set to expire soon and he is not sure what he wants to do next. In addition, In the same interview, he talked about feeling strange during his Triple Threat match with Reigns and Edge at WrestleMania 37. Bryan referred to the feeling as “very out of body” and even thought it was the feeling that he was about to die.
Editor’s Opinion:
The first thing that I thought when I saw this challenge was that this is the end of Daniel Bryan in WWE for a while. He has had issues wit..

WWE Moving Mainstream, Hopes To Be Like Marvel And DC (Big Changes)

That’s very different. As you have probably been able to tell, the WWE has been undergoing quite the shakeup in recent memory. A lot of this has been due to the arrival of new company President Nick Khan, who has negotiated a series of lucrative deals for the company. These things have been rather successful so far and that is going to get Khan more good will. It turns out that he is going to be getting quite a few more responsibilities.
According to PWInsider.com, Khan is being given even more authority and goals in the company. The idea is to move WWE into more of a mainstream property in the same vein as Marvel or DC Comics. This could include various crossover appeal with wrestlers and characters. There is no word on how this will go or how Khan plans to make these transitions work.
Khan was formerly with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), one of the biggest and more important talent agencies in the world. As a result, Khan is able to bring in a variety of people he has worked with b..

Chelsea Green May Have A Serious Problem

That’s a problem. The WWE releases from earlier this month changed a lot of things in the company but it changed even more for the wrestlers involved. Losing your job is one thing but it can mean a lot more to some of the people. Some of them are going to be hurt by this a little bit more than others, and in one case it could cause quite the difficult situation in the short and long terms.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE wrestler Chelsea Green revealed that her release may cause her to have to leave the United States. Green is Canadian and needs either a visa or a green card to stay in the country. Another option is to get married to an American citizen and Green is engaged to Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE. This should seem to be easy, but it is still not quite that simple.
Green and Cardona are engaged but Green wants her family to come in from Canada for the wedding ceremony. However, the travel restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus pand..

REVIEW: Backlash 2000: Should Have Been Strive againstMania

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Backlash 2000
Date: April 30, 2000
Location: MCI Center, Washington, DC
Attendance: 17,867
Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler
This show is probably what Wrestlemania should have been. The company was on fire at this point and this might be the best show of the year for the best year of the company. The main event is Rock vs. HHH for the title with Shane as guest referee. There are also rumors of a Rattlesnake sighting. Let’s get to it.
We open with a video of Rock vs. HHH who has most of the McMahons in his corner..

Important Note On Peyton Royce’s Future

You need to move forward. Earlier this month, several wrestlers were released from WWE on the same day, with some of them being rather big surprises. That made for a rather interesting day, but also a rather interesting future, as the wrestlers needed somewhere new to go. That meant figuring out a new identity for themselves, as WWE was going to own most of their details. One wrestler has figured out a new path.
According to 411mania.com, recently released WWE star Peyton Royce has filed a trademark application for the name “Cassie Lee” to replace the Royce name, which is owned by WWE. Royce’s real first name is Cassie and she wrestled under the name on the independent circuit before coming to WWE. Royce was one of the nine wrestlers released from WWE on April 15, along with her former partner in the Iiconics, Billie Kay.
You might need to get to know her under the new moniker. Check out Royce under her three ring names:

Bruno Sammartino And Sasha Banks Honored In Different Ways

Those are some special honors. Wrestlers are celebrities, but they live in a rather small bubble. They are famous and on television almost every week, but that fame can only go so far. Sometimes they are able to reach a new level outside of wrestling, though there are some who become such wrestling legends that they do not need to go elsewhere. Now we are seeing a great success story in both styles.
Two wrestlers, one active and one deceased, have received a special honor. First up, a park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been renamed to honor WWE legend Bruno Sammartino. The park is in Ross Township in Pittsburgh and was formerly known as Sangree Park. A ceremony was held to change the name and included the unveiling of a new sign showing Sammartino standing in the ring and wearing what would become the WWE Championship.
This is pretty cool. Check out the new park name being unveiled:

VIDEO: Surprise Return Vignette On SmackDown

I’m kind of stunned. One of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler in WWE is for Vince McMahon to lose interest in them. If the boss doesn’t think much of you, odds are you are not going to have the brightest future. That has been the case over and over again throughout the years and it seems to be the case again. However, those expectations were changed this week.
You might not remember him. Check out a surprise return this week on SmackDown:

An Aleister Black vignette aired during this week’s SmackDown. The vignette featured Black sitting on a throne and reading from a book called Tales Of The Dark Father. As Black read, animation played, showing the story that Black was telling. The story was called the Dragon, which was chapter one of the book. Black also talked about not being like the people at home, suggesting that he is still a heel.
The vignette was the first time that Black has appeared on WWE television since a match in ..

Hold On: WWE Changes Course On Firing Over Garbage Bag Situation

Well that didn’t take long. This week saw a surprising story out of WWE as stories began to emerge of WWE returning released wrestlers’ belongings in garbage bags. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon heard about this and took action, firing the person involved. As a result, some people were fired from the company, including some people who had been around for a very long time. This seemed to be part of a big shakeup in the talent relations department, but one of those shakes might have been unshaken.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has already changed their minds on removing John Cone from his job in the talent relations department. Cone, who also works for WWE as a referee, was removed from his position on Thursday, following the garbage back story breaking. There is nothing to suggest that Cone himself was responsible for what was done. Cone also works as a referee for the company, in addition to being Senior Manager of Talent Relations.
WWE legend Mick Foley had not been happy with the..

Extra Details About WrestleMania 37 Main Event

It’s one of the big ones. We are now a few days removed from WrestleMania 37 and that means it is time to both look forward but also discuss WrestleMania in quite a high level of details. There was a lot of material to cover from the show and that is not a bad thing whatsoever. As usual, the main event was the part of the show that is going to get the most attention and now we have a bit more on the match.
The main event of the second night of WrestleMania 37 saw Universal Champion Roman Reigns successfully defending the title against both Daniel Bryan and Edge. The match had been set up for several weeks now with Edge winning the Royal Rumble and then costing Bryan his shot against Reigns at Fastlane. That set up several stories for WrestleMania and it took more than one person to make those stories work.
According to Fightful Select, Paul Heyman played a huge role in setting the match up, as he does with most of Reigns’ matches. Reigns was always the planned winner for the match an..

WWE Has Some Worries About Alexa Bliss

It is a bit of a worry. There are all kinds of wrestlers under the WWE umbrella and that can make for a lot of different scenarios. With so many different stars in WWE, there are a lot of different ways to present them. Sometimes it becomes clear that most of these ways are not working, which can create a problem. That seems to be the case again with a Monday Night Raw star.
Starting last fall, Alex Bliss became the newest follower of the Fiend, which started her as one of the new major female villains on the show. Bliss has gone on to develop similar powers to the Fiend and now seems to have walked away from him entirely. This means that Bliss could be striking out on her own again, but that means we might be in for a rather different presentation, as something could be missing.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is worried about having Bliss wrestle matches against other women, as she made one of her most recent opponents, Nikki Cross, seem like nothing. Bliss and Cross las..

Longtime NXT Star Walks Officially Resigns

So long? NXT is about as unique of a wrestling promotion as you can find these days, as it serves not only as the official developmental territory for WWE but also as its third brand. That puts it in a strange place, as there are some wrestlers who become stars there but are instantly called up to the main roster. At the same time, you have some wrestlers who seem to be NXT lifers for one reason or another. This week, one of those names seemed to wrap up his time in the promotion.
The Undisputed Era was the most dominant stable that NXT has ever seen. At one point, the company held every title they could in the promotion and completely controlled everything NXT had to offer. It saw all four members as some of the top stars NXT had ever seen, but now the team has been completely wiped out. With the team gone, we seem to have lost a wrestler.
During this week’s edition of NXT, Roderick Strong, accompanied by his wife Marina Shafir, submitted his resignation to General Manager William R..
