There are some new wrestlers around here but things are already starting to sink into the same problems the show has had for months now. I’m hoping that they find some way to make it better, but there are only so many things that can be done with the limitations that 205 Live has. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Ari Sterling vs. Sunil Singh A rollup gives Sterling a quick one but he has to fight out of a headlock. Sunil gets knocked outside so the Boyz try to make a switch….which doesn’t work as they don’t look alike. The referee tells Samir to get out but Sunil uses the distraction to come in for a chop block.
Some leg cranking ensues but Sterling kicks him over the top for trying a cannonball. Sunil takes him down again though and it’s a slingshot elbow to the knee to put Sterling in trouble again. The Bollywood Lock goes on but Sterling turns it over for..

Triple H Appears at NBA Game In DX Gear

Getting things started the right way. One of the great traditions in the NBA is the ringing of the bell before the Philadephia 76ers take the court for a home game. This is to pay homage to the Liberty Bell, which resides in the city of Brotherly Love. Today, however, Triple H made his presence felt during this ceremony.
The Game walked out with 76ers star Joel Embiid, coming out to the Degeneration-X theme and wearing DX gear. After a few crotch chops and pandering to the crowd, Triple H rang the bell with his trademark sledgehammer to get the game started.

Ex-WWE Star Reveals How WWE Used Sanity’s Ideas For Retribution

What could have been. There have been a lot of stales in WWE history and some of them do not receive a lot of attention. For every Evolution, there are several more which do not make the biggest impact. That can leave a lot of groups mostly lost to history, but every now and then you see a bit of a reference to one of them. It turns out that was the case last year, but it was not exactly what you would have expected.
In an interview with Fightful Select, former WWE star Alexander Wolfe revealed that several of the original ideas for the Retribution stable was pitched by Sanity when they were called up to SmackDown in 2018. Several of the same ideas are now being used by Eric Young, the former leader of Sanity, in his Violent By Design stable in Impact Wrestling. Sanity was part of WWE from April 2018 until April 2019.
Wolfe was part of the Sanity stable along with Young, Killian Dain, Nikki Cross and Sawyer Fulton, the latter two of whom did not appear with them on SmackDown. The tea..

RUMOR: AEW Star Out Of Action With Injury

That would explain a bit. Injuries can happen to anyone at almost any time and unfortunately there is no way to completely prevent them. Every wrestler gets hurt at some point and the only difference is how long they are going to be kept out of the ring. That is the case again with an AEW wrestler, but his time on the shelf might be a little bit shorter than expected.
According to Bodyslam.net, AEW’s Rey Fenix is out of action with a groin injury. The injury took place about two weeks ago and was scheduled to keep him out of action for six to eight weeks, meaning he could be back as soon as early July. There is no word on when Fenix was injured. He was written off of AEW television during this week’s edition of Dynamite when it was announced that the Young Bucks attacked him backstage.
Fenix is one of the best high fliers going today. Check out what he can do in and above the ring:

WWE Has Some Interesting Plans For Summerslam’s Schedule

They have a plan. We are still a few months away from Summerslam but that does not mean it is too early to start planning. There are a lot of things that need to be done before the show gets here and now a lot of the details are starting to fall into place. WWE has taken the time to make those details work, including one which has nothing to do with wrestling.
This weekend, WWE announced that Summerslam 2021 will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, August 21. The date was known in advance but the venue had yet to be confirmed. The situation may cause WWE some scheduling conflicts as the show is in the same city and on the same date as a major boxing match, but WWE has a plan in advance.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE’s plan to deal with the Pacquiao fight is to have Summerslam end early enough for fans to either make it to the fight or to watch it on pay per view elsewhere. Summerslam is currently scheduled to begin at 8pm EST with the fight taking plac..

Roman Reigns Has Some Unique Rules For WWE TV

He can kind of get away with it. It is very rare that you see a wrestler who is presented as leaps and bounds above everyone else in the promotion. When that is done properly, it cane be one of the best things in all of wrestling though and we are currently seeing that take place in WWE. It turns out that the person who is above everyone else is using some of the authority he has built up for himself.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Roman Reigns will not appear during the middle of any show and will only be featured as part of the beginning or end of a show. There is no word on if this means just based on interviews/segments or in matches as well. Reigns appeared at the beginning and end of this week’s SmackDown, but also during segments throughout the show. He also did not wrestle in either the first or last match of this year’s Elimination Chamber event.
Reigns kind of deserves the spots. Check out what he has been doing as of late:

BREAKING: WWE Officially Confirms First Time Ever Summerslam Location

They have a place. The wrestling world has changed a lot in the last year and a half but things are starting to come back to normal. That could mean some good news for the wrestling world as fans are being allowed to return to the live events starting in July. Now that we know that, it is time to find a place to put those fans and WWE now has one of its bigger events covered.
WWE has announced that this year’s Summerslam will take place in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will take place on Saturday August 21, marking the first time that the event has been held either on a Saturday or in Nevada. This will be the second pay per view event to take place after the return of fans in attendance, following Monday In The Bank on July 18.
This could be awesome. Check out the announcement and some great moments in Summerslam history:

Top AEW Star Out Of Action “Indefinitely”

I’d say he’s earned it. Most promotions have their share of stars, but there are only a small number of wrestlers who feel like they are above the rest of the roster. Those wrestlers need to be treated like a different kind of star and a wrestling company should be a little more careful with them. That seems to be the case with a current top star, who is getting a bit of a break.
During this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, commentary announced that Jon Moxley will be out of action indefinitely following an attack at Double Or Nothing over the weekend. Moxley had competed in a match for the Tag Team Titles and was hit with four straight BTE Triggers to end the match. There is no word on when Moxley will be back in the ring or on television. The announcement of Moxley taking time off also comes as his wife, former WWE backstage interviewer and host Renee Paquette is due to give birth later this year. The pregnancy was announced in November, meaning that the baby will likely arrive somet..

WWE Changing Hiring Practices Due To AEW

That’s a new way to go. Over the last two years plus, WWE has been dealing with its first high level competition in a very long time. AEW has gone from not existing to a huge promotion in a pretty short span of time and that has made for quite the change. WWE has made some adjustments as a result and now they are changing things back to their previous style.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has changed one of its hiring practices regarding releasing wrestlers. Over most of the course of AEW’s existence, WWE has not been willing to release wrestlers for fear of the wrestlers going to AEW. The company has since changed their minds, as demonstrated by their string of releases earlier this week.
This change comes as WWE no longer sees AEW’s ratings performance in the 18-49 demographic as much of a problem. WWE has also accepted that they cannot and will not be putting AEW out of business so they are no longer seeing AEW as such a priority. Therefore, WWE is now much mo..

MVP’s Photo Fuels Speculation Over Hurt Business’ Future

I’d call it an upgrade. Stables are a concept that has been around wrestling for decades now, as they serve more than a few purposes at the same time. WWE has started to use them a bit more as of late and that has helped their television product a fairly good bit. Some of them are stronger than others, and now another one is teasing a heck of an upgrade.
MVP has posted a new photo of himself and the Street Profits to his Instagram account. This has led to some speculation that the Street Profits may be looking into joining the Hurt Business in the near future. The Hurt Business currently consists of only MVP and Bobby Lashley, but once also included Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. The WWE on FOX Twitter accounted posted the photo as well, with three interested eyes emojis. There have been no reports to suggest that the team could be joining the Hurt Business and this is merely speculation at the time.

Update On WWE/New Japan Negotiations, NXT Now Involved

We’ll switch that to a no. Last month, an interesting story began to emerge about the possibility of WWE entering into a working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. This is the kind of thing that could be quite the change for both companies, but it seemed to be hinging more on Daniel Bryan in particular. Now it seems that things have changed, and it could be in a big way.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s discussions with New Japan have moved on from focusing on Bryan, as company President Nick Khan has become the point man on the discussions. The plans now center around NXT in some form, meaning that top level WWE and New Japan stars are not likely to be coming to the other promotion. WWE has attempted to negotiate with New Japan before but the talks have gotten nowhere. The major difference this time is Khan, though there is nothing to suggest any kind of a guarantee of a deal.
WWE has worked in Japan before. Check out some of their time there:

REVIEW: Great Balls Of Fire: Mediocre Gracious

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

It’s time for the most oddly named pay per view in a long time and yes they’re actually going to call it this. Brock Lesnar is getting back in the ring for the first time since Wrestlemania to defend the Universal Title against Samoa Joe. This has the potential to be a war and that’s what the title needs. Let’s get to it.
