We Might Be Getting A Modern Version Of A Classic WWE Character

He needs someone. There are certain ideas in wrestling that you will see taking place over and over again. It might not be the best idea in the world, but sometimes you need an idea that you know has worked before. It can be even better if the original wrestler can be involved, even in a small way. That seems to be the case in NXT and the story may be about to expand.
Last weekend at NXT Takeover: In Your House, LA Knight became the new Million Dollar Champion by defeating Cameron Grimes in a ladder match. Original champion Ted DiBiase brought the title in and had mentioned that he wanted someone to continue his Million Dollar Legacy. During an interview with PWInsider.com, Knight mentioned that he was in search of his own version of Virgil and was currently taking applications. There is no word on if NXT is planning to bring in a Virgil character.
Virgil served as DiBiase’s bodyguard for the first several years of DiBiase’s time in the WWF. The pair eventually split in 1991 when Vir..

Top Star Working Through Multiple Injuries

The champ is injured. There is no way around injuries in wrestling. No matter how talented and trained someone is, there is always going to be the chance that someone gets hurt. It could be through a single moment or it could be overall wear and tear, with no one being able to escape either of them all the time. That seems to be the case with one of the bigger names in wrestling today.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW and Impact Wrestling World Champion Kenny Omega is dealing with a variety of injuries but is expected to keep working through them. At the recent AEW Double Or Nothing fan fest, Omega mentioned that he thinks it might be time to consider retiring but having fans in the arena makes him feel better. There is no word on what sort of injuries Omega is dealing with at the moment.
Omega has been working well despite his injuries. Check out how he has been doing lately:

WWE RUMOR: Important Changes Coming Soon

Shake it up? WWE may be the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world but they are not exactly enjoying the best reputation at the moment. Fans have not exactly been pleased with what they are doing and their television audiences would seem to reflect that. It would seem that a few changes need to be made and believe it or not, we might be seeing that take place.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, Vince McMahon is aware that WWE’s product is stale and in need of a shakeup. The idea is that the better storylines and ideas are being saved for when crowds return to the shows, which will begin on July 16. There is no word on what those changes will be, though John Cena and the Rock have been rumored for returns to the company in the coming months.
There have been some changes before. Check out some of the better ones in WWE history:

WATCH: Samoa Joe Returns To NXT, Chokes Out Top Star

Welcome home. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be hard to find a spot for someone to break in. It might help if someone has something that sets them apart from the rest of the wrestlers, especially if a wrestler is trying to get in from the outside. That was the case this week as a released wrestler came back to WWE in a pretty big way this week.
Samoa Joe made his return to WWE television this week, making his return to NXT. General Manager William Regal had been interrupted by Karrion Kross but Samoa Joe appeared instead. Regal offered him the position of General Manage but Samoa Joe countered by offering to be Regal’s enforcer. Regal agreed, on the condition that Samoa Joe not be an active competitor and could only attack someone if physically provoked. Later in the show, Adam Cole would shove Samoa Joe and get choked out as a result.
The return comes two months after Samoa Joe was released from his WWE contract and had been rumored earlier in the week. Samoa Joe h..

WWE RUMOR: Vince McMahon’s New Rule For Monday Night Raw

What he says goes. Vince McMahon might not be the most popular name in the wrestling industry but he certainly is the most powerful. McMahon controls the biggest and strongest wrestling promotion in the world and any change he makes could have quite the impact on the wrestling world for a long time to come. Now he might be shaking things up on Monday Night Raw.
According to Ringsidenews.com, McMahon has told the WWE creative team to no longer present cold matches, meaning a match with no story or stipulation. This is why Jeff Hardy put his career on the line in an impromptu match against Cedric Alexander during this week’s Monday Night Raw. There’s no word on how long McMahon’s newest order will continue.
The idea could go a few different ways. Check out the match, plus some more McMahon ideas:

WWE May Be Doing Something Weird With New Monday Night Raw Star

That’s what’s in a name. A name can mean everything in wrestling and the higher of a level that the wrestler reaches, the more important it becomes. It can make all of the difference in the world to whether someone is a star or little more than a warm body on the roster. WWE has a hit and miss track record for their names and now they are trying something new with an established name.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Eva Marie made her return to WWE television and was scheduled to face Naomi in her first match. However, an unnamed woman wrestled on Eva Marie’s behalf and defeated Naomi in less than a minute. The woman, who wrestled in NXT and in the Mae Young Classic under the name Piper Niven, was not identified by commentary, who did not seem to recognize her. Now we might be seeing her under a very different name.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is considering the names “Doudrop” or “Dew Drop” for Niven. It is not clear if WWE is looking at any other names or if this is the direct..

Something Is Opening Up Next Week On NXT

That could be anything. There are a lot of different ways to present a new star or group of stars, some of which are more effective than the others. One of the more interesting ways to go is to build up some intrigue in a debuting star and then eventually pay it off. That is what NXT is trying again, though this time around they have given very few hints. Now though, it is time to find something out.
During this week’s edition of NXT, a vignette aired saying that the Diamond Mine will be opening next week, on the June 22 edition of the show. This is the latest vignette in a series advertising the Diamond Mine, with the visuals showing an unknown person or group of people training in a gym. There is no word on who will be involved in the Diamond Mine or what they will be doing.
The Diamond Mine has been teased for a while now. Check out some of the vignettes and one of the most important Diamonds in wrestling history:

VIDEO: WWE Legend Attacked In Stunning Betrayal

So much for loyalty. Legends are a tricky concept in wrestling and there are several ways to use them in the wrestling world. One of the most common is to have them become a mentor for a younger star, which opens up a lot of different options. That is something NXT has been doing in recent weeks, and the story took quite the turn during this week’s television show.
This week’s edition of NXT featured the fallout from Takeover: In Your House, where LA Knight defeated Cameron Grimes to become the new Million Dollar Champion. During this week’s show, Knight was officially presented the title by DiBiase, with Knight talking about how much DiBiase meant to him. However, Knight then said that he had everything he needed and attacked DiBiase, with Grimes making the save. There is no word on how long DiBiase will be sticking around NXT.
It has been a pretty intense feud. Check out how we got here:

Major Grudge (Re)Match Set For Great American Bash

You have to start somewhere. Like any other wrestling promotion, WWE runs special events from time to time, often in addition to their monthly pay per views. Some of these have quite the history in their own right, even if they involve tapping into something that might not have originated with them. That is going to be the case next month and now we have a start to the card.
This week on NXT, General Manager William Regal broke up a fight between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. As a result, Regal decided that the two of them could have a singles match at the Great American Bash special on July 6. This comes after O’Reilly defeated Cole in a singles match in the main event of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver Night Two in April. Prior to the Great American Bash, the two will both be in singles matches on the June 22 NXT, with O’Reilly facing Kushida and Cole’s opponent to be named.
O’Reilly and Cole’s relationship goes back to their debuts in NXT in 2017 when they, along with Bobby Fish and ..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – June 15, 2021

NXT
Date: June 15, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett
We’re past a pretty lackluster Takeover and that means it is time to start getting ready for the rest of the summer. I’m not sure what that is going to included but William Regal was teasing some kind of a big change. That could mean multiple things, though there are some rumors of what it could mean, most of which are rather intriguing. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of Takeover.
Here is a serious looking William Regal for a chat. Regal talks about being with NXT from the beginning, including starting at the commentary desk for the first Takeover. NXT has grown throughout the last few years and they have gone around the world, including to his hometown of Blackpool. Regal gets a bit emotional as he talks about everything that NXT has done for everyone involved here. He thanks everyone who took them to San Jose and Houston and Brooklyn and Portland..

REVIEW: Bad Blood 2003: The Cell Can’t Save You

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Bad Blood 2003
Date: June 15, 2003
Location: Compaq Center, Houston, Texas
Attendance: 10,000
Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler
It’s the first single brand pay per view and the question is can WWE manage to come up with ANYTHING better than what they’ve been doing on TV. They’ve basically punted on Kevin Nash as a main eventer, bringing in Mick Foley with the hopes that he and the Cell can save interest in the show. Let’s get to it.
The opening video looks at the three top stories: the main event, Goldberg vs. Ch..
