Injured Superstar Returning To The Ring On Monday Night Raw

Welcome back. There are a lot of names on the WWE roster and some of them do something other than get in the ring. In addition to the wrestlers, there are also people who appear in segments and mainly serve as background or supporting characters. Those wrestlers still get in the ring every now and then, which will be the case again just next week.
WWE has announced that MVP will be returning to the ring next week on Monday Night Raw. MVP and Lashley will team up against New Day in a tag team match. The match will be MVP’s first since the February 15 Monday Night Raw when he suffered a knee injury in a six man tag. This marks a change from the original plans for the show, as Xavier Woods vs. Lashley had been previously announced.
MVP has had quite the in-ring career of his own. Check out some of better moments:

Kevin Owens Has Some Grand Money In The Bank Plans

We aren’t done yet. One of the most interesting WWE stories over the last ten months has been Roman Reigns, who has dominated the SmackDown landscape. Reigns won the Universal Title on August 30 and there is nothing to suggest that he is slowing down anytime soon. One of the biggest problem is that Reigns is running out of challengers, but someone seems to have his eyes set on the title.
This week on Talking Smack, Kevin Owens called Paul Heyman, who was not hosting the show as usual. Owens told Heyman not to hang up and promised to win the Money In The Bank contract and come after Reigns. He also said that there was nothing Heyman or Reigns could do about it. Owens qualified for Money In The Bank after defeating Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing match on this week’s SmackDown.
Owens has challenged Reigns during his time with the title, including a pair of pay per view matches. Reigns defeated Owens in a Tables Ladders And Chairs match at the pay per view of the same name in 2020, in ..

WATCH: Becky Lynch Doing Work For UFC

It’s a side gig. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to being a celebrity. They are on television every week but that does not mean they are going to be seen as stars outside of the wrestling world. There are places where they fit in rather well though, including some other forms of athletics. This includes UFC, where a top WWE star has gotten to help things out a bit.
Former Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is featured in a new video hyping up the Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier fight at UFC 264 for BT Sports. In the video, Lynch speaks about McGregor, who is also from Ireland. Lynch has been out of action for over a year on maternity leave, giving birth to her daughter in December. She has recently been training for a return to the ring.
This is pretty cool. Check out the video and Lynch at her regular job:

More Backstage Details On Zelina Vega’s WWE Return

More to it. The biggest surprise of the week in WWE has been the return of Zelina Vega, who left the company in November. Vega returned during this week’s edition of SmackDown, with Sonya Deville announcing Vega’s entrance in the Money In The Bank ladder match, but there seems to be more to this story. Now we have quite a few more details.
PWInsider.com is reporting some additional details on Vega’s return. According to PWInsider.com, Vega’s tweet from November about supporting labor unions has been released. In addition, her Twitch channel remains active, though she has not appeared on it since February. According to Fightful Select, there were several people backstage in WWE trying to get Vega re-signed for months. WWE maintained contact with her during her absence.
It is nice to have Vega back. Check out what she can do for WWE:

VIDEO: Intense Moment Takes Place On Talking Smack

She isn’t happy. There was quite the surprise on this week’s edition of SmackDown as Zelina Vega made a return to WWE television after an eight month absence. Vega was added to the Money In The Bank ladder match and would go on to face Liv Morgan in a losing effort. Her night was not over though as she had a bit of an encounter with a surprising opponent.
Vega was a guest on this week’s edition of Talking Smack and got into an argument with host Kayla Braxton. During the interview, Braxton brought up Vega losing the match with Morgan, but Vega brushed it off and threatened to slap her. Vega went on to say that she did not have any competition in Money In The Bank before saying that she looked better in red than Braxton to end the interview.
This was pretty intense. Check out the interview and what else she can do:

VIDEO: WWE Discusses The Most Important Match Ever

There are a lot of candidates. It takes a lot of different things to make a wrestling show work, but ultimately it all comes down to the matches. Over the years, there have been countless wrestling matches to see, but only some of them are the kind that stand out above the rest. It takes something special to be a match that makes a difference, and now WWE is trying to figure out which did the most.
During this week’s edition of the Bump, the three hosts discussed the most important match in WWE history. The three matches discussed were Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. vs. Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper in the main event of WrestleMania 1, Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant in the main event of WrestleMania 3 and Hulk Hogan defeating the Iron Sheik to win his first WWE Title. The hosts then moved into a discussion of the matches which had the most influence on them as fans. These choices were their opinions rather than a definitive choice from WWE.
This was a heck of a discussion. Check out the talk,..

WATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins From “Money In The Bank” 2016

Believe In The Shield. WWE has released a new video on YouTube, in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins from the 2016 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Dean Ambrose, who won the “Money in the Bank” briefcase earlier in the evening, would strike while the iron was hot, and cash in his contract to become the new champion.
You can find the entire video below:

From WWE.com:
The Architect fought like a man looking to reclaim both his title and his pride, facing Reigns for the first time without The Authority or J&J Security ready to intervene on his behalf. Some early ring rust aside, Rollins quickly showed he still possessed the skills that took him to the top. But going toe-to-toe with “The Guy” proved to be a poor strategy when Reigns used his strength advantage to overpower his foe with clotheslines, headbutts and a tilt-a-whirl slam to the reeling Rollins.
The Architect remained defiant, if not competitive, s..

WATCH: This WWE Clip Has Blown Away Everything Else This Week

They have something here. It is no secret that WWE’s televisions audiences are not what they used to be. The drops in the numbers are staggering and shows that fans are not all that interested in what WWE is presenting. That being said, there is certainly still an audience out there and the trick is to make them watch something. It seems that WWE has found something to interest those fans.
Last week’s SmackDown ended with Edge making a surprise return and spearing Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Later in the week, a title match was made between the two for Money In The Bank. Since then, the clip of Edge attacking Reigns has been viewed on WWE’s YouTube account 4.3 million times. In the week before and the week since, only two other videos have broken two million views and nothing has been within a million views of the Edge/Reigns video.
It was a heck of a moment. Check out the big deal, plus some other popular videos from the week:

Del Wilkes, AKA The Patriot, Passes Away At Age 59

We have some sad news to report as Del Wilkes, who was known to WWE fans as The Patriot, has passed away at the age of 59.
From WWE.com:
Before making a name for himself in the squared circle, Wilkes was a standout on the football field for the University of South Carolina, where he earned the distinction of being voted a consensus All-American. After making the switch to sports-entertainment, Wilkes competed all over the world before arriving in WWE in 1997 as The Patriot.
A Superstar quickly on the rise, The Patriot proudly donned the red, white and blue of America in the midst of a rivalry with The Hart Foundation, leading to a memorable match against Bret Hart for the WWE Championship at In Your House: Ground Zero just two months after his WWE debut.
We at Wrestling Rumors extend our deepest condolences to the Wilkes family during this difficult time.

Lana Discusses Infamous Heat In WWE, What Caused The Initial Problem

What’s in a name? There are so many wrestlers who have appeared in WWE over the years that they can have a hard time standing out. Sometimes someone does manage to get you attention over the rest, but that does not mean it is a good thing. Every now and then you find something that earns you a reputation, and this time around we get to hear about it from a big more free opener.
CJ Perry, best known as Lana during her time in WWE, appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast to discuss her time in WWE. During the interview, Perry discussed the heat that she received in 2015 for sending out photos her her marrying Rusev, who she was feuding with at the time, causing them to be made public. Perry was taken off of television for three months as a result and ultimately became much more careful about her photos. Even following the on-screen split from her storyline husband Bobby Lashley, Perry waited over a month before posting photos of her real life husband.

REVIEW: Money In The Bank 2020: Your Briefcase Is In Another Tower

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Money In The Bank 2020
Date: May 10, 2020
Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Samoa Joe, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips
It’s a special event this time around as the majority of the show will be taking place in the Performance Center but the two ladder matches, taking place at the same time because reasons, are to be held at WWE Headquarters in Connecticut. This could be anywhere between a disaster or fascinating, or perhaps a combination of both. Let’s get to it.

New NXT Wrestlers Get Dark Match Tryouts Before SmackDown

Keep them moving. NXT has a weird role to play in the wrestling world as not only does it have its own television to worry about, but it also has to help create the next WWE stars of the future. That is a lot easier said than done, but it can be interesting to see an NXT star move up to the main roster. Now we might have an idea of some other names getting the chance to move up.
According to PWInsider.com, NXT wrestlers worked more dark matches before this week’s edition of SmackDown. There were three matches this week, including:
Shotzi Blackheart vs. Tony Storm Odyssey Jones vs. Robert Roode Karrion Kross vs. Cesaro This is the second time that Blackheart has worked a SmackDown dark match and the third for Kross. These matches are part of an effort by WWE to find talent ready to move up to potentially move up to the main roster later this year. While it has not been confirmed, the moves are rumored to be part of the 2021 WWE Draft, which will be held in the fall.
