WWE Main Event Results – July 8, 2021

Main Event
Date: July 8, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Byron Saxton
Our random wrestling show of the week is back and I’m really not sure what that is going to mean. In a reversal of things that I said for years about Main Event, I’m running out of ways to say that things are different around here and that is a very good thing. I’m curious to see what we get, though it might not wind up working out. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Veer vs. Jeff Hardy Shanky and Jinder Mahal are here with Veer as usual. Veer powers him into the corner to start and Jeff knocks himself down while trying a shoulder. Hardy is sent throat first into the middle rope and we’re already in the neck crank. Jeff fights up but gets taken down by the hair.
The nerve hold goes on again but Hardy fights up with a sitout jawbreaker. This time Hardy’s comeback actually works, including some shots to the head but the Twist of Fate (possibly with a botch as w..

205 Live Results – July 9, 2021

205 Live
Date: July 9, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph
The debut of the newly stocked 205 Live will have to wait another week as it is time for more Breakout Tournament preview matches. Last week’s matches were not exactly thrilling and did not leave me overly excited for the rest. Maybe this week’s can be an improvement, which shouldn’t be that difficult. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Josh Briggs vs. Asher Hale Briggs is a 6’8 monster and not exactly a cruiserweight. The fans are behind Hale as he gets slammed down without much effort. The smaller Hale can’t drop toehold him but a small package gets a fast two. Briggs is sent outside for a running knee from the apron but he is right back in for a shot to the face. There’s a hard whip into the corner to give Briggs two and a release side slam drops Hale again. A splash gets two and a chinlock has Hale in more trouble.
Hale gets big booted out to the floor but..

WWE Wrestlers Unhappy With Recent Company Decision

Can you blame them? The world of WWE is changing all over again and that is going to be the case in a big way in the coming weeks. Starting July 16, WWE will be returning to active touring with its first show outside of Florida since March 2020. This is a big change after nearly a year and a half in the same place so the company is changing things up a bit. It just so happens that some wrestlers are unhappy with the situation.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE wrestlers who do not live near Orlando, Florida are unhappy about being required to go to the Performance Center for additional training. Part of the problem came from wrestlers not wanting to give up their days off for no additional pay for drills they do not see as necessary. Several of the wrestlers who live nearby would have gone to the Performance Center to train anyway without it being made mandatory but were not given the chance.
Training can help a lot. Check out some WWE wrestlers getting ready for some bigger..

Another Former WWE Star Has Found A New Wrestling Home

Welcome to your new home. The biggest WWE story of the year has been all of the releases up and down the roster. Several wrestlers have been let go from the company, leaving several holes in the roster. That makes for some changes to WWE, but it also opens up a lot of changes to other promotions. One former WWE star has now found another home in a new company.
Chelsea Green made her Ring of Honor debut during this weekend’s Best In The World pay per view. Green is not ready to wrestle at the moment due to a broken arm, Green said that she was ready to debut in one month. As a result, she will not be one of the sixteen entrants in the Ring of Honor Women’s Championship tournament. Her most recent match took place on the November 13, 2020 SmackDown.
Green was one of the wrestlers WWE released from the company on April 15, 2021. She spent most of her time in the company as a part of NXT, eventually debuting on SmackDown in November. Her lone match as a part of the main roster took place..

How Bray Wyatt’s Puppets Almost Wrestled In WWE

What could have been. There are certain characters in wrestling who are about as unique as you can get. No one else can play them and no one else would be able to do it either. That is the kind of special status that you do not get to see very often but it is rather special when it works. WWE has that at the moment, but it was almost taken in a rather different direction.
In a new interview with Metro.uk, Mike Bennett, formerly known as Mike Kanellis in WWE, revealed that was scheduled to portray Sister Abigail as part of a new Bray Wyatt faction. Bennett says that Vince McMahon wanted Wyatt to lead a faction again, this time with Wyatt’s Firefly Funhouse puppets being portrayed by wrestlers. While Bennett would have been Abigail, Eric Young would have been Mercy the Buzzard. This never came to fruition and Bennett was released from WWE on April 15, 2020.
This could have been a mess. Check out what we almost saw and who could have done it:

Out Of Many, Won: Best WWE Moment Named At ESPY Awards

Wrestling is in a weird place when it comes to mainstream attention. It is rare to see wrestling being treated as something important or legitimate, which means it can be all the more interesting when you see it happen. Wrestling has come a long way in the last few years as various outlets have been covering it a bit more. That was the case again this weekend in a rather nice way.
Saturday night, Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night One won the Best WWE Moment at the 2021 ESPY Awards. Both Belair and Banks were on hand to accept the award. This is the second time that WWE has been presented with an award at the event, with Roman Reigns’ announcement that he was cancer free winning the 2019 edition.

WWE Now Accepting Wrestler Applications Via TikTok

This is new. WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world and that means they are going to be doing some things that other promotions are unable to do. It does not mean that they will always make sense though and sometimes the promotion will be mocked for what they try to do. They have a new idea now and I’m not sure how well it is going to be received.
WWE has announced that they are now accepting resumes from potential wrestlers via TikTok. The advertisement asks for wrestlers from any kind of athletic background with any level of experience. WWE is asking for wrestlers with the following qualifications:
• World-class athleticism
• Size, flexibility, strength, & agility
• Personality & charisma
• Global appeal & diversity
• Coachability, work ethic, & professionalism
There is no word on how long the application will be available or how many wrestlers WWE is hoping to sign through the process.
This could lead somewhere. Check out some new talents making their debuts:

Wrestling Legends Rip Fan Who Jumped Barricade At AEW Dynamite

They should be annoyed. Wrestling fans are starting to return to the arenas in large numbers for the first time in well over a year and that is a great thing for everyone involved. Fans get to see wrestling in person for a change and the promotions are getting some money brought in. At the same time though, it does not mean everything is going to work out well. That was the case last week and now some people are reacting.
During this week’s AEW Dynamite, a fan jumped the barricade and approached the ring during a Chris Jericho and Maxwell Jacob Friedman segment. Security got rid of the fan and Jericho himself even got in a shot on him. Later, the fan sent out a tweet saying that he was doing this due to Jim Cornette’s comments over the AEW roster being pretend wrestlers. Cornette and Jericho responded to the fan’s tweet and it did not go well.
Got news for you dipshit, the ring is sacred ground for US, and even if you and a lot of others THINK you can kick the shit out of the Young B..

WWE RUMOR: Future Plans For The Usos May Surprise You

That’s a way to go. One of the biggest wrestling stories of the week has been Jimmy Uso being arrested for a DUI. This is something that has happened multiple times now and it seems fairly clear that Uso is in need of some kind of help. It remains to be seen if he will pursue that help, but something clearly needs to be done. Now we have an idea of what WWE might be doing, and it is a rather interesting way to go.
Uso appeared on this week’s SmackDown, reuniting with his brother Jey Uso and cousin Roman Reigns. The trio hugged in the ring with Reigns talking about how he wanted all of them to be champions, with himself as Universal Champion and the Usos as the Tag Team Champions. During the same show, the current Tag Team Champions, Rey and Dominik Mysterio, returned and brawled with the Usos to end the show. According to Wrestlingnews.co, the plan is for the Usos to win the titles with the title change coming at Summerslam. Should the Usos win the titles, it will mark their seventh t..

Voting Now Open For The WWE Bumpy Awards

Get your envelopes ready. Debating/arguing the best in wrestling is a rite of passage among fans. Everyone has done it at some point in their time as a fan and that will always be the case. It is an easy thing to do as everyone has a take of some kind. It makes for some interesting discussions, but it can be even more interesting when someone on the inside gets involved. That is the case again this week.
WWE’s The Bump has unveiled the categories and nominees for their half year awards known as the Bumpys. The awards will be fan voted with the winners being named on the August 4 edition of the Bump at 10am EST. There are five categories this time, including Superstar, Match, Rivalry, Moment and Tag Team of the Half-Year. Here are the nominees for the first half of 2021:

VIDEO: Bayley Says Goodbye To WWE Thunderdome

It’s been a ride. In less than a week, WWE will be back in front of a full capacity of fans for the first time in nearly a year and a half. That is the kind of change that can shake up the company in a very good way and it marks the end of an era. While that era might not have been the best, there were some great things about it. Now a WWE star is looking back at those things.
SmackDown’s Bayley has released a video on her Twitter looking at the Thunderdome as it is being taken apart. This is the final version of the Thunderdome, which has been held in three different venues: the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. WWE will be back on the road starting with the July 16 SmackDown from Houston, Texas.
The Thunderdome began back in August 2020 and was WWE new location after leaving the WWE Performance Center. Rather than having physical fans in attendance, the venue was filled with digital fans, made up..

You Won’t See Paul Heyman On WWE As Much Anymore

So long? WWE has more content than it knows what to do with most of the time. Between Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and NXT and all of the other shows, it can be hard to keep track of everything that WWE has going on. It can help to have a few other shows to recap the bigger ones, but now a rather prominent voice will no longer be on one of those specific shows.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Paul Heyman will no longer be appearing on Talking Smack, with Pat McAfee taking his place. There is no word on why Heyman is off the show, though there is nothing to suggest that he is in any kind of trouble. Talking Smack airs Saturday mornings on Peacock and the WWE Network and serves as a recap show for SmackDown.
Heyman was gold on the show. Check out some of his appearances:
