REVIEW: WrestleMania 29: Round Two

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Wrestlemania XXIX
Date: April 7, 2013
Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Attendance: 80,676
Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield
It’s Rock vs. John Cena II and I don’t think you need to hear anything else about the main event. With that match out of the way, the biggest name left is the Undertaker, who will be facing CM Punk in a match that might have been better had it been for the title. This time it’s personal though, as Paul Bearer had recently passed away, leaving ..

WATCH: WWE And AEW Stars Reunite In New Music Video

Together again. The last few years have seen several changes in the rosters for both WWE and AEW. This has included all kinds of releases and signings to the other company, several of which have never gotten their first major change. It can mean a lot for those wrestlers to come back together, which is what happened again recently. This time though it had nothing to do with wrestling.

Former Hit Row teammates Swerve Strickland (AEW), Top Dolla (WWE) and B Fab (WWE) reunited in a music video for the music video for the Monteasy song “Price Went Up”. The group, plus Ashante The Adonis, teamed together in NXT before being called up to the main roster, where they were released just over a month later. Everyone but Strickland was re-signed to WWE last year.
It was something different. Check out the video, plus the team in action:

AEW Revolution 2023 Results

Revolution 2023
Date: March 5, 2023
Location: Chase Center, San Francisco, California
Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Jim Ross
We’re back with another AEW pay per view and that should mean something really good. The television shows haven’t been the strongest in recent weeks but that has never stopped the pay per views from being special. The main event will feature MJF defending the World Title against Bryan Danielson in an Iron Man match, which should be…uh, long. Let’s get to it.
Zero Hour: Lucha Bros/Mark Briscoe vs. Varsity Athletes/Ari Daivari Mark Sterling are here with the Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese/Josh Woods) and Daivari. Nese poses at Penta to start but Penta is right back with CERO MIEDO. All six come in to strike it out with Penta and Nese being left alone in the ring. Made In Penta gives Penta a quick two before Daivari has to save Sterling. The villains take over on Penta by whipping him into the corner and Woods adds a suplex for two.
The Athletes double suplex Penta ..

WATCH: Mick Foley Wants To Join The Judgment Day (And It’s Great)

He’s worth something! Stables have been one of the most important recurring concepts in wrestling as they solve multiple problems at once. Above all else, it can allow wrestlers to get on television a bit more, as instead of short spots from individual people, they can appear together for longer stretches. Now a legend wants to join one of the most prominent modern stables.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Return: Vince McMahon Backstage At Monday Night Raw (With A Huge Change)
Mick Foley has released his video resume in an attempt to join the Judgment Day. Foley lists off several of his career highlights, including a focus on his times flying off of Hell In A Cell. During the video, Foley also makes fun of Dominik Mysterio’s time in prison and includes an Al Snow reference. Thus far, Judgment Day has not responded to Foley’s offering to join the team.
This is something different. Check out the resume, plus the two sides in action:

The Return: Vince McMahon Backstage At Monday Night Raw (With A Huge Change)

He’s back. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the return of Vince McMahon to WWE, following a six month absence. McMahon is back to facilitate a sale of the company, though it has led to wonder about whether he will rejoin the creative team. While there is nothing to suggest that he has done it so far, McMahon did do something this week that he has not done since his return.

According to Fightful Select, McMahon was backstage this week at Monday Night Raw. There was no official reason for him to be there, though one WWE talent suggested that he was there to see John Cena, who was returning at the show. According to PWInsider.com, there was nothing to suggest that McMahon had anything to do with the show’s creative. Finally, according to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful.com, McMahon is reported to now be sporting a mustache.

WATCH: Jey Uso Makes His Decision About The Bloodline

As the Bloodline turns. The Bloodline Saga has dominated WWE for the better part of two years now but some cracks are starting to show. The team has been having one issue after another, often involving questions about the members’ loyalties to the group. After such issues, the Bloodline needs some wins, and that took place this week, with a major issue being resolved.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re On: Three More Matches, Including Title Match, Set For WrestleMania 39
Jey Uso walked out on the Bloodline at the Royal Rumble based on the team ejecting Sami Zayn. Since then, Roman Reigns has tasked Jey’s brother Jimmy to get him back. Jimmy had until this Friday to get Jey back on the team. Jey returned in the main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw, where he distracted Jimmy so Zayn could win the match. Following the match, Jey hugged Zayn before turning on him and rejoining forces with Jimmy, seemingly ending the question of Jey’s loyalty.
It was a big moment. Check out the turn, ..

WWE Announces King and Queen of the Ring 2023 Event

New royalty will be crowned. WWE has issued the following press release, announcing the 2023 King and Queen of the Ring event:
The General Entertainment Authority, in cooperation with WWE, has announced that WWE King and Queen Of The Ring will be held at the Jeddah Superdome, the world’s largest pillarless Superdome, on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
WWE King and Queen Of The Ring is happening in Jeddah, alongside a host of additional exciting events happening in Jeddah throughout the year.
This marks the first King Of The Ring Premium Live Event to be held since 2015 and the first crowning of a Queen since the inaugural Queen’s Crown Tournament which took place at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh in 2021.
More details on WWE King and Queen Of The Ring will be announced in the coming weeks.
Editor’s Opinion:
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody, as this event was wildly successful in the past. I love the fact that they are bringing back this classic event, and, including both men and w..

They’re On: Three More Matches, Including Title Match, Set For WrestleMania 39

On the card. We are less than a month away from WrestleMania 39 and that means the card is rapidly getting set. The show will again be held over two nights and there are even more matches that need to be set up. Sometimes you will see a bunch of matches being set up at the same time, which was the case this week, as multiple matches were set up on the same night.
There were three new WrestleMania 39 matches set up this week on Monday Night Raw. First up, Logan Paul and Seth Rollins had a showdown, where Paul said that he would face Rollins on a bigger stage. WrestleMania host the Miz agreed to get the match made and it was set later in the show.
Second, Austin Theory interrupted John Cena and challenged him to a US Title match at WrestleMania. After insulting Theory, Cena accepted the challenge. This match has been teased since Cena and Theory met backstage last June. It will be Cena’s first singles match since Summerslam 2021.
Finally, Damage Ctrl interrupted Trish Stratus and Wome..

AEW Stable Was Split Up Because of “Experts”

If you know, you know. QT Marshall recently took to Twitter and gave an explanation for why his stable, The Factory, was split up in AEW.
According to Marshall:
We did some fun stuff. Unfortunately, the amount of Factory hate from the “experts” in wrestling was too much and the group had to disband.

It should be noted that it is unknown if he was referring to upper management of the company or the fans when he was referring to “experts”.
The Factory was formed on the March 31, 2021 episode of Dynamite, when Marshall, along with Anthony Ogogo, Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solow attacked The Nightmare Family.
Editor’s Opinion:
Let’s see…the company breaks up a stable because certain “experts” don’t like..

Monday Night Raw Results – March 6, 2023

Monday Night Raw
Date: March 6, 2023
Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts
Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves
We are less than a month away from Wrestlemania and tonight is going to be one of the bigger shows, as John Cena is back. There is a good chance that we get his Wrestlemania match set up this week, as he is running out of time. Other than that, we also get a face to face staredown between Logan Paul and Seth Rollins. Let’s get to it.
The Bloodline (Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa) arrived earlier today, with Heyman reiterating Roman Reigns’ orders to deal with Sami Zayn. Now Zayn escaped on Friday, so he must be here in Boston tonight. Instead, Sikoa is going to solve the Kevin Owens problem tonight, and Jimmy will solve Zayn, whether Jey is here or not. Jimmy and Solo leave and Heyman calls Reigns.
