And NEW! Former WWE Star Wins First World Title

He who hath the gold. Titles have been the focal point of wrestling since the sport began, as wrestlers want to be seen as the best. The easiest way to be recognized as such is to hold a big shiny belt after beating the former champion. There have been a lot of titles throughout wrestling’s history and now one of the most famous, as well as important, has changed hands.

This weekend at NWA Hard Times 3, Tyrus, formerly known as Brodus Clay in WWE, defeated Matt Cardona and reigning NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch in the main event to win the title. This is Tyrus’ first World Title, with his shot coming after he cashed in his NWA TV Title via the Lucky Seven rule in exchange. The win ends Murdoch’s reign at 154 days.

Opinion: This is one of those title changes that had been built up for a long time now but took its time to actually take place. Tyrus has been built up as a monster in the NWA and he gets the biggest win of his career. I’m not sure what this means for the NWA, but they do have a more prominent name holding their World Title now, and that can often be the most important thing.
