WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Had Some Specific Rules About Mickie James’ Appearance

That is rather specific. While WWE tends to dominate the wrestling landscape, there are several other wrestling promotions in the world. Some of them are rather established and have been around for a long time. These other promotions have some major names and talents who have been around for a long time. It is rather rare to see WWE interact with them, but it does happen occasionally. However, it seems that WWE had some specific rules in place about one such interaction.

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James appeared in this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match. James wore her Knockouts Title to the ring and was acknowledged as being part of the Impact Wrestling. According to Will Washington on Fightful Grapsody, while WWE brought James in, there were several rules about her appearance. These included being allowed to say “Impact” but not “Impact Wrestling”, or use the term “World” or “Knockouts”. The idea was that WWE does not use the terms “wrestling”, “world” or James’ chyron billed her as the “Impact Women’s Champion”, though the terms were used on other broadcasts.

Opinion: I get the idea here, but it certainly did look weird. On one hand, I get the idea that Impact Wrestling didn’t exactly get everything they were hoping for, but ultimately, this was the biggest exposure that the company had in a long time. James was on the show with the title and the name Impact was used multiple times. That is a lot for them, and dealing with WWE’s quirks is worth the price.
