1990s WWE Personality Making Special NXT Appearance

Blast from the past. There are certain eras in WWE history which get more attention than others. You hear some of these names over and over again, with the Attitude Era always near the top of the list. The Golden Era and Ruthless Aggression eras also get some attention, but there is another generation that does not get much attention. Now it is going to get a special cameo.
WWE has announced that former broadcaster Todd Pettengill will serve as host of the upcoming NXT Takeover: In Your House 2021. The show will take place on June 13 and follows the first Takeover: In Your House from last year. Pettengill returned to the company to present a preview of the show. There is nothing to suggest that this will be anything more than a one off appearance.
Pettengill worked for WWE from 1993-1997 and served as a host of several television shows. He also worked on multiple In Your House events, along with other WWE pay per views, mainly working as the hype man for the events. After leaving the..

VIDEO: Surprise Return Takes Place During NXT

Welcome home! NXT has come a long way in a very short amount of time. Over the hast few years, the promotion has gone from little more than filler programming on WWE.com to one of the biggest wrestling shows of the week. The show airs in prime time on the same network as Monday Night Raw, so a big moment on the show means a lot to the fans. That is the case again this week.
Bobby Fish made his return to NXT television this week, saving Kyle O’Reilly from a double team attack by Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan. After O’Reilly and Fish cleared the ring, the two agreed to go their own ways as they both had their own scores to settle. The two were on good terms though and showed respect to each other. This was Fish’s first appearance since TakeOver: WarGames in November.
Fish and O’Reilly were part of the Undisputed Era from 2017-2021 and won the NXT Tag Team Titles multiple times as part of the team. During his absence, the Undisputed Era split up, with Fish not being present for the split. ..

Very Interesting Note On WWE And Daniel Bryan (And Walter)

Well that’s odd. One of the biggest WWE stories of the last few weeks has been that of Daniel Bryan, who was forced to leave SmackDown after failing to take the Universal Title from Roman Reigns. After the match was over, news broke that Bryan’s WWE contract had expired, meaning that he would be a free agent, able to go anywhere that he wanted. That opened some doors, but now we might have a bit of a twist.
NXT United Kingdom Champion Walter was recently a guest on After The Bell. During the interview, Walter mentioned that he would be interested in facing Bryan, listing him as one of his dream opponents on the current roster. However, the mention of Bryan was removed from the clip of the interview that WWE released on YouTube, leaving only Cesaro and Finn Balor as potential opponents. The Bryan mention is still in the full podcast. There is still no word on Bryan re-signing with WWE or signing elsewhere.
Something is missing. Check out the clip released by WWE and a look at what mig..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – May 11, 2021

NXT
Date: May 11, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Beth Phoenix
It’s another double title night as we have two titles on the line. As a bonus, one of the matches, in this case Kushida defending the Cruiserweight Title against Santos Escobar, will be two out of three falls. That’s nice enough, but will it be nicer than Raquel Gonzalez defending the Women’s Title against Mercedes Martinez? Well yeah it probably will but that’s beside the point. Let’s get to it.
Opening recap/preview.
Karrion Kross vs. Austin Theory Non-title and Scarlett/Johnny Gargano are here. Theory is rather worried to come in but Gargano talks him into it, meaning the stalking can start fast. A clothesline doesn’t do much to Kross but his clothesline takes Theory’s head off. Kross looks annoyed at Theory and tosses him with a Doomsday Saito. Gargano offers a distraction though and Theory rakes the eyes to take things outside.

John Cena Returning To WWE Programming As Narrator Of New Series

This could be interesting. There have been all kinds of wrestlers going in and out of WWE over the course of the company’s history. With so many wrestlers over the years, there are only going to be a handful of wrestlers who are going to get the highest level of attention. There are some great villains who do not get the attention that they deserve, but now they are going to receive it from a slightly surprising source.
According to Deadline.com, NBCUniversal has ordered a new series from WWE called WWE Evil, which will air on Peacock. John Cena is credited as a show runner and executive producer and will also serve as a narrator. The series will be a look into the psychological breakdown of various famous villains in the company’s history. There is no word on when the series will air. This comes after Cena teased a new project with WWE but nothing was announced.
Cena will have a lot to pick from. Check out some of the best villains in WWE history, including Cena’s time as a villain:..

Important Update On Monday Night Raw Injury Scare

That’s a relief. One of the worst parts about a wrestler being injured is wondering how long they are going to be on the shelf. There is almost no way of knowing the extent of an injury as someone being hurt could put them out of action for a long time. However, some injuries seem to be a lot scarier than they actually are, and thankfully that seems to be the case with another from this week.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Humberto Carrillo is ok after an injury scare during his match against Sheamus on Monday Night Raw. Carrillo could “wrestle tomorrow” if he needed to. Carrillo’s match against Sheamus ended in a referee stoppage when Sheamus landed on Carrillo’s leg during a sunset bomb. The two laid on the outside for a few moments before the referee stopped the match and awarded Sheamus the victory. There is no word on if WWE will make an angle out of the injury scare.
This could have been worse. Check out how the match went, plus what a healthy Carrillo can do:

AEW’s Ricky Starks Out Of Action With A Broken Neck

That’s Kurt Angle’s deal. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and some of them are a lot worse than others. You see people get hurt every now and then and sometimes you wonder how they keep going. One of the most amazing things is finding out that someone has been hurt worse than expected, and that is the case again with a horrible AEW injury.
According to Voices of Wrestling, AEW’s Ricky Starks will be out of action for three months with a broken neck. The injury took place during a match on the April 21 edition of Dynamite, when Starks landed on his head during a German suplex from Hangman Page. Starks attempted to backflip out of the move but did not go far enough, causing the injury, though Starks finished the match.
According to Fightful, the injury is considered to be a slight fracture and surgery will not be required to repair the damage. Starks has officially wrestled a tag match since the injury, though he only stood on the apron for a tag team match, which lasted l..

REVIEW: In Your House #1: A Late Mother’s Day Present

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
In Your House #1
Date: May 14, 1995
Location: Onondaga War Memorial, Syracuse, New York
Attendance: 7,000
Commentators: Vince McMahon, Doc Hendrix
The main event is Diesel defending the WWF Title against Sid, but there is something a bit bigger. The main story tonight is the WWF giving away an actual house down in Florida to play up the In Your House name. This was a major idea that was heavily promoted on WWF television leading up to the show. It was a nice marketing idea as it gave some adults a reason to care abou..

WWE Management Says Match “Set The Business Back 30 Years”

I guess they weren’t fans. For the better part of twenty years, WWE had very little, if any, serious competition at the top of the wrestling world. The company completely dominated the industry and there was nothing that came close to them. That is still mainly the case, but there is now another company doing fairly well, as AEW has grown by leaps and bounds in their brief existence. Last week AEW presented a match and WWE was not too thrilled with it.
Last week, AEW presented its first ever Blood & Guts match, serving as their version of WarGames. The match featured ten wrestlers, many of whom were bleeding by the end. According to PWInsider, WWE management felt that the match “set the business back 30 years”. However, WWE wrestlers felt that the match was great and would love to do something similar. It is not clear what part of the match angered WWE officials.
The match was certainly intense. Check out what happened and see if you can find the part WWE did not like:

What Is Next For Mia Yim/Reckoning In WWE

It’s a place to start. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that it can be hard to find something for all of them to do. That is kind of a nice problem to have as it means that WWE has more choices than it knows what to do with at the moment. It seems to be the case now, but WWE has a new plan in mind for one of their stars looking for something to do.
According to Fightful Select, Reckoning, also known as Mia Yim, was scheduled to debut on last week’s SmackDown in a match against Carmella. The match did not take place due to reasons that are not clear, though Carmella did appear on the show, defeating Ruby Riott. It is expected that Yim vs. Carmella will take place, though it is not clear which name Yim will wrestle under.
Yim has been part of WWE since 2018, following a pair of appearances in the first two Mae Young Classics. She spent just shy of three years in NXT, where she wrestled under the Yim name. In August 2020, she moved up to the main roster as part of the Retri..
